IT Network Engineer

Location: Bangalore Industry: Renewable Energy | Power & Utilities | SCADA | IT/OT Infrastructure

Candidate Should be From Renewable Energy, SCADA Knowledge

1. Role Summary looking for an IT Network Engineer responsible for managing, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting network infrastructure across renewable energy and power plant environments.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in network administration, switching, routing, VLAN configuration, firewall management and network troubleshooting. Exposure to SCADA, industrial communication protocols and IT/OT networking will be an added advantage.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Configure and maintain VLANs, switches, routers, trunk/access ports and inter-VLAN routing.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, outages and incidents.
- Perform network diagnostics using Ping, Traceroute, NSLookup, Netstat, ARP and other standard commands.
- Capture and analyze network traffic using Wireshark and configure SPAN/Port Mirroring.
- Support firewall configuration, rule reviews, change requests and documentation.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of switches, routers, firewalls and wireless links.
- Maintain network diagrams, IP address records, configuration backups and inventory.
- Coordinate with SCADA, OEM, vendor and site teams during commissioning and maintenance.

3. Mandatory Skills

- Robust understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models, IP addressing and subnetting.




- Hands-on knowledge of VLANs, 802.1Q trunking and inter-VLAN routing.
- Basic routing concepts, including static routing.
- Understanding of firewall concepts, NAT, security zones and access policies.
- Network troubleshooting and diagnostic methodologies.
- Working knowledge of Wireshark and Port Mirroring.
- Understanding of DHCP, DNS, ARP, ICMP, SNMP, NTP, SSH and HTTP/HTTPS.
- Basic Layer 2 concepts such as STP, Link Aggregation and Port Security.

4. Preferred Skills

- Exposure to Modbus TCP, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850 or OPC protocols.
- Experience in SCADA, renewable energy, solar, power or utility environments.
- Familiarity with Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper or HPE/Aruba devices.
- Understanding of IT/OT segmentation, Purdue Model and IEC 62443.
- Exposure to PRTG, Zabbix or SolarWinds monitoring tools.
- CCNA or Fortinet certifications will be an advantage.

6. Other Requirements

- Willingness to travel to plant locations.
- Flexibility to support shifts and on-call requirements when needed.
