Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The candidate should have robust technical expertise in Cobol, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM, along with experience supporting business-critical applications and working with cross-functional teams.

Caterpillar Returnship is a 24-week company paid; office-based program designed to enable a soft launch for experienced professionals on a career break. This initiative includes, networking sessions, coaching, trainings, and a project / work scope assignment.

Eligibility to apply - Career break of minimum 6 months.

What You Will Do

- Design, develop, test and maintain mainframe applications using Cobol, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Develop and enhance batch and online applications.
- Perform complex application debugging, root-cause analysis and production issue resolution.
- Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries, COBOL programs and JCL jobs.
- Support production batch cycles and resolve job failures and application incidents.
- Perform impact analysis for application enhancements and system/interface changes.
- Work with upstream and downstream applications to troubleshoot integration and data-flow issues.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development and quality standards.
- Support application releases, implementation and post-production validation.
- Create and maintain technical specifications, application documentation and support procedures.




- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with business analysts, application teams, infrastructure teams and other stakeholders.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement opportunities within mainframe development and support.
