About ClearancePort

ClearancePort builds AI software for India's customs house agents, freight forwarders and exporters. Our platform connects customer enquiries, quotes, bookings, documents and customs checks around each shipment, from customer email to a shipment ready to move and file. We are a founding team in New Delhi, starting with one export lane and running real shipments through the platform. A licensed partner CHA files them while we prepare to apply for our own licence.

About the role

ClearancePort is hiring its first Head of Customs Operations: a licensed customs broker (F card) who will run our customs desk and keep us compliant. You will also be the authorised person on our own customs broker licence.

- Location: Delhi NCR, on-site, with regular visits to ICD Tughlakabad, ICD Patparganj and IGI Air Cargo
- Reports to: Founder
- Type: Full-time, permanent, founding team
- Pay: ₹8.4–12 lakh a year fixed, plus ESOPs

What you'll own You will own every customs outcome: first by managing our partner CHA, then by running our own licensed desk.

Customs operations

- Run the customs desk end to end, for exports (Shipping Bill, Let Export Order, EGM) and imports (IGM, Bill of Entry, Out of Charge).
- Onboard exporters with a document checklist, verified KYC and written authorisation.
- Manage our partner CHA: review every filing before it is submitted, track turnaround and escalate errors.
- Write the standard operating procedure for each customs stage, and keep an error log that feeds back into the procedures.
- Handle examinations, queries and hold-ups at the customs station, and keep documentation-caused demurrage and detention down.

Compliance

- Make sure every client has written authorisation and verified KYC before we act for them (CBLR Reg 10(a), 10(n)).
- Keep records audit-ready for at least five years (Reg 10(p)).
- Advise clients to comply with customs law, and escalate non-compliance as the regulations require (Reg 10(d)).
- Lead our response to customs queries, show-cause notices, audits and penalty proceedings.
- Track customs circulars, tariff changes and trade-agreement rules, and brief the team and clients.

Our licence and team

- Be the authorised person (the employee who has passed the exam) on our Form B2 customs broker licence application.
- Once we are licensed, authorise G-card staff to sign,

file those authorities with the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner, and supervise all filing.
- Hire and train one or two G-card filing executives and an H-card documentation executive, and sponsor staff for the G-card exam.

Product

- Act as ClearancePort's customs domain owner for HS classification rules (General Rules of Interpretation first), valuation, duty and exemption logic.
- Review what our AI drafts (HS codes, values, notification claims), and decide which steps can be automated and which always need a human.
- Build the certificate-of-origin and preference-claim workflow for the India–EU FTA, expected in force from early 2027.
- Work weekly with our engineers, and test recent features on real shipments before release.

Customers and partners

- Join sales calls with exporters as our customs expert.
- Maintain working relationships with customs officers, CFS and ICD operators, shipping lines and airline agents.

Your first 90 days By day 90, the desk runs on written procedures and every partner filing has passed your review.

- Days 1–30: Learn ClearancePort; shadow the partner CHA on 10 shipments; agree the partner's turnaround times and our review process
- Days 31–60: A written procedure for every customs stage; an exporter onboarding checklist covering KYC and authorisation; the error log live
- Days 61–90: Classification and duty rulebook, version 1, reviewed with engineers; 30+ shipments reviewed; licence application file drafted

How we'll measure success At 12 months we judge the role on clean filings, speed, and a granted licence.

- CBLR violations or penalties: zero
- Filings accepted without amendment or query: baseline set on the first 50 shipments, improving every quarter
- Ops hours per shipment: half the baseline from our first manual shipments
- Demurrage or detention caused by documentation: baseline set on the first 50 shipments, improving every quarter
- Customs broker licence: application filed and licence granted
- Team:

one or two G-card filers hired and trained
- Procedures: written for every customs stage and reviewed quarterly

What you bring

- You have passed both the written and oral customs broker exams under CBLR 2018 (F card), and can show the result.
- You are free to be our authorised person: not currently named as the qualified person on another firm's licence, which the regulations forbid (Reg 7(2)(b)).
- 10+ years in customs clearance, including hands-on work at Delhi customs stations (ICD Tughlakabad, ICD Patparganj or IGI Air Cargo), for both sea and air.
- You have filed on ICEGATE through filing software (such as Live IMPEX or Logi-Sys) and handled e-Sanchit uploads.
- Strong in HS classification, valuation and exemption notifications.
- A clean record: no CBLR penalty, suspension or revocation against you or any firm you were authorised for.
- You have led a team of filing or documentation staff.
- A graduate degree; fluent English and Hindi.
- Willing to work on-site and at customs stations as needed.

Nice to have

- Experience with certificates of origin and preference claims under India's trade agreements.
- Experience with exporters in textiles and apparel, leather, engineering goods or home décor.
- Experience with FTWZ, SEZ or EOU procedures.
- You have taken staff through the G-card exam.
- Comfortable with software and AI tools; you have helped build or roll out an internal system.
- Startup experience, or you have set up a new branch.

What we offer

- Fixed pay of ₹8.4–12 lakh a year depending on experience, plus ESOPs.
- A founding-team seat: you will shape how customs work in India is done with AI.
- A budget to hire and train your own filing team.
- The company furnishes the licence security deposit and pays the licence fees and DSC tokens.
- You work directly with the founder and our engineers, and your rules become the product.

How to apply Send your CV, a copy of your F card or exam result, and a short note on the hardest clearance you have handled to [email protected].

1. A 30-minute call with the founder, where we confirm your exam result and current authorisations.
2. A case interview on three real customs situations.
3. A work sample: review three draft filings in ClearancePort and find what's wrong.
4. Reference checks with two past employers or clients.
5. Offer
