The role will be responsible for supporting and managing financial reporting, statutory and regulatory compliance, and financial accounting activities within the organization. The individual will ensure accuracy, integrity and timely delivery of financial information while ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards, regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
The role will involve working closely with internal finance teams, auditors, business stakeholders and regulatory authorities to ensure robust financial controls, accurate reporting and effective compliance management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Manage and support periodic financial closing and reporting activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards, including Ind AS, IFRS and Indian GAAP, as relevant.
- Analyse financial data, identify variances and provide relevant explanations.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
2. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support compliance with IRDAI guidelines and other relevant regulatory requirements applicable to the life insurance industry.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of regulatory returns and disclosures.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on financial reporting.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and compliance records.
3. Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during statutory and regulatory audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Support maintenance and strengthening of internal financial controls.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and supporting documentation.
4. Process Improvement & Stakeholder Management
- Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, controls and operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with finance, actuarial, taxation, legal and other relevant teams.
- Support implementation of changes arising from new accounting standards or regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures and reporting timelines.
Educational Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred/mandatory depending on role seniority.
- Semi-qualified CA / CMA / relevant finance qualifications may be considered for junior positions.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and statutory compliance.
Experience & Competencies:
- Experience in financial reporting, accounting, statutory compliance or financial control.
- Knowledge of Ind AS, IFRS and Indian GAAP.
- Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and statutory compliance.
- Exposure to audit coordination and financial closing processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work within defined reporting timelines.
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry would be an advantage.
