Job Purpose

The Feed Plant Head will be responsible for managing the complete operations of a poultry feed manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient production, maintenance, quality control, inventory management, cost optimization, safety compliance, administration, and manpower development.

The role demands strong technical expertise, operational excellence, leadership capabilities, and proven experience in managing large-scale feed manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

- Plan and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Ensure achievement of production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor plant utilization, production efficiency, downtime, and operational performance.
- Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Implement productivity improvement initiatives and best manufacturing practices.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Ensure uninterrupted production activities and adherence to production plans.

Plant Maintenance & Engineering

- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum reliability and availability of plant machinery and equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and execute machinery upgrades and improvement projects.
- Maintain utilities, electrical systems, and plant infrastructure.
- Reduce machine downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Implement modern maintenance practices to improve equipment life and efficiency.

Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

- Manage manufacturing and operational costs within approved budgets.
- Control maintenance, manpower, utility, and energy expenses.
- Drive cost-reduction and efficiency-improvement initiatives.
- Implement energy and water conservation practices.
- Monitor operational and maintenance expenditure (O&M;).




- Ensure optimum utilization of plant capacity and resources.
- Improve overall plant productivity and operational performance.

Quality Management

- Ensure adherence to feed quality standards and manufacturing specifications.
- Monitor raw material and finished product quality.
- Maintain compliance with approved formulations and operating procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality and Technical teams to meet quality objectives.
- Investigate quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with all quality assurance systems and SOPs.

Raw Material & Inventory Management

- Monitor inventory levels of feed ingredients and critical materials.
- Coordinate procurement requirements with concerned departments.
- Maintain optimum stock levels to support uninterrupted production.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory control practices.
- Minimize wastage, losses, pilferage, and inventory variances.
- Ensure accurate material accounting and stock reconciliation.

Manpower & Team Management

- Lead, motivate, and develop the plant workforce.
- Allocate manpower effectively to achieve operational targets.
- Build a performance-driven and accountable work culture.
- Guide and support managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
- Conduct employee training and knowledge-sharing programs.
- Identify skill gaps and implement development initiatives.
- Drive performance management and employee engagement activities.

Administration & Compliance

- Manage plant administration and operational governance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
- Maintain operational records, reports, and documentation.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, Procurement, Quality, and other departments.
- Ensure discipline, operational control, and professional workplace practices.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to regulatory and legal requirements.





Safety & Housekeeping

- Ensure a safe working environment across all plant operations.
- Implement and monitor workplace safety programs.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Address safety concerns through preventive and corrective measures.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and 5S practices.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong experience in poultry feed manufacturing operations.
- Proven experience managing feed plants with a capacity of at least 10,000 MT per month.
- Thorough knowledge of poultry feed manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, machinery, and maintenance practices.
- Expertise in production planning and plant operations management.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Knowledge of energy and water conservation initiatives.
- Sound understanding of plant safety, compliance, and housekeeping standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and consistently achieve operational targets.
- Effective communication and training skills.
- Strong cross-functional coordination and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 15 to 20 years of experience, preferably in poultry feed manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience managing high-capacity feed manufacturing plants.
- Exposure to operations with a minimum production capacity of 10,000 MT per month.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification preferred.
