Role description

About the Role Grant Thornton is building a world-class Finance & Accounting organization to power decisions, performance, and growth across an increasingly global business. As Director, Head of Offshore FP&A;, you will lead the firm’s offshore FP&A; center in Bangalore end to end – owning the quality, timeliness, and insight of the planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis delivered to onshore finance leadership.

You will partner with the Head of FP&A; to scale the offshore team from reporting delivery into true decision support – running offshore delivery of the annual budget, forecasts, producing management and executive reporting, and building the models, data, and processes that give leadership one consistent view of performance across service lines, markets, and entities.

This is a high-visibility leadership role with direct exposure to the Head of FP&A;, onshore FP&A; and business finance leaders, and the Office of the CFO. You will be the single point of accountability for offshore FP&A; performance, quality, and growth, and the trusted offshore counterpart to onshore finance leadership as the combined platform scales.

About Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton is consistently recognized as one of the best places to work – named to Forbes’ America’s Best Employers and honored by Fortune, Vault, Glassdoor, and Working Mother for our culture, career development, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In 2024, Grant Thornton Advisors partnered with Current Mountain Capital to accelerate the firm’s growth and innovation. Since then, the firm has executed 20 acquisitions across EMEA, the Americas, and APAC, and recently announced its combination with CBIZ. On a pro forma basis, the combined firm will have approximately $7 billion in revenue – roughly triple its 2024 size – more than 34,500 people across 29 countries and territories, and a position as the #5 accounting and advisory firm in the U.S.

New Mountain Capital is a leading growth-oriented investment firm with approximately $50 billion in assets under management and a distinctive focus on building great businesses in defensive growth sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Offshore Team Leadership & Service Delivery

- Lead, motivate, and grow the offshore FP&A; team – managers, team leads, financial analysts, and reporting and planning-systems specialists – setting team structure, roles, capacity plans, and succession plans, and driving hiring decisions in partnership with HR.
- Own performance management, goal setting, coaching, and career development; build a culture of accountability, commercial curiosity, continuous learning, and inclusion, and identify and develop future leaders with cross-training and coverage for critical planning and reporting cycles.

- Act as the primary offshore counterpart to the Head of FP&A; and onshore finance leadership – defining and managing SLAs and KPIs, running regular governance and performance reviews, managing escalations, and communicating clearly across time zones.

Planning, Forecasting & Management Reporting

- Run offshore delivery of the annual budget and forecasts – data collection, consolidation, model maintenance, and version control – and own the offshore planning calendar so submissions and reviews are accurate and on time.
- Build and maintain driver-based models for professional services economics, including headcount, utilization, bill rates, realization, pricing, compensation, and overhead, and support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for acquisitions, recent service lines, and major investments.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly management reporting packs, KPI dashboards, and executive and Board reporting inputs, with budget-versus-actual and forecast variance analysis and clear commentary reviewed before onshore sign-off.

Analysis, Data & Transformation

- Analyze performance by service line, market, client, and entity – margin, utilization, working capital, and cash drivers – and provide onshore leadership with insight on trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Own the integrity of planning and reporting data, including reconciliation to actuals, master data, hierarchies, and allocations; serve as offshore owner for enterprise planning and BI platforms (e.g., Anaplan, OneStream, Adaptive, Power BI) and maintain SOPs, model documentation, and review controls.
- Lead transitions of FP&A; processes from onshore to offshore – including integrating acquired entities into the planning and reporting framework – and deliver standardization, automation, and self-service reporting that improve cost, quality, cycle time, and forecast accuracy as the platform scales.

Skills

Qualifications

Required

- 15+ years of progressive experience across FP&A;, corporate finance, or business finance, including 7+ years leading teams.
- Proven track record running offshore or shared-services FP&A; delivery for a US, UK, or global organization.
- Deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and variance analysis in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, including driver-based and three-statement models.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise planning and consolidation platforms (e.g., Anaplan, OneStream, Adaptive) and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

- Executive presence and the ability to communicate clearly and credibly with senior onshore leadership across time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred

- MBA (Finance), CA, CPA, CMA, or CFA.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or a Big Four firm; familiarity with utilization, realization, pricing, and practice profitability.
- Experience in a private equity-backed or acquisitive business, including integrating acquired entities into planning and reporting.
- Experience leading process transitions, planning system implementations, or automation (Power BI, Python, RPA).

Leadership Attributes A people-first leader who builds high-performing, engaged teams and develops future finance leaders. Rigorous, commercially minded, and analytically sharp, with sound judgment under pressure. A natural collaborator who builds trusted relationships with onshore finance leadership across time zones. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building structure at pace. Embodies GT’s CLEARR values – Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect, and Responsibility.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid, based in the Bangalore office: three days a week in the office, with regular working-hour overlap with onshore EMEA and U.S. finance teams.
