- Define supported deployment models and maintain clear compatibility standards across software and hardware.
- Establish monitoring, incident response, disaster recovery and capacity planning.
- Manage infrastructure costs and improve the efficiency of development and production environments.
Quality, security and release readiness
- Be accountable for release quality, supported upgrade paths and production readiness.
- Establish testing across functionality, performance, security, device compatibility and real-world playback conditions.
- Ensure secure development practices, access controls and vulnerability management are embedded in delivery.
- Lead technical investigation of critical defects and recurring incidents, with documented corrective actions.
- Set clear release criteria, rollback procedures and support handover requirements.
Hardware and player integration
- Coordinate software and firmware integration with media players and approved hardware platforms.
- Own technical validation of device onboarding, remote management, content playback and offline operation.
- Work with hardware, procurement and operations teams on chipset changes, component availability and product lifecycle planning.
- Ensure hardware substitutions and firmware changes are validated before customer deployment.
Partner and customer enablement
- Build the technical foundations for a partner-led sales and delivery model.
- Oversee API documentation, integration guides, deployment standards and technical training materials.
- Support partner certification, solution validation and complex enterprise deployments.
- Work with sales and support teams on technical feasibility, solution design and escalations.
- Ensure regional requirements, including localisation and Japan-specific delivery needs, are reflected in product planning.
Business leadership and governance
- Own engineering budgets, resource planning and delivery reporting.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into progress, dependencies, risks and decisions required.
- Establish measurable service expectations between engineering, product, support and commercial teams.
- Maintain company ownership and control of source code, technical documentation, repositories and development environments.
Experience and qualifications
- Typically 12+ years of experience in software engineering or enterprise technology, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ownership of an enterprise software product from roadmap through development, launch and ongoing operation.
- Strong technical understanding of cloud platforms, SaaS architecture, APIs, databases, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience building reliable systems that manage distributed devices, edge applications or connected hardware.
- Proven ability to improve delivery predictability, product quality and team performance.
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers, channel partners and geographically distributed teams.

- Degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred experience
- Digital signage, content management, media playback, IoT or device management platforms.
- Multi-tenant platforms and enterprise identity integrations.
- Android, Linux or Windows player environments.

- Building technical enablement for distributors, resellers and systems integrators.
Leadership expectations
We are looking for an individual who:
- Takes ownership of outcomes and follows commitments through to completion.
- Remains close enough to the technology to challenge architectural and delivery decisions.
- Communicates clearly and raises risks early.
- Builds capable teams with clear standards and responsibilities.
- Makes practical decisions that balance customer value, engineering effort and business priorities.
- Brings discipline and urgency to a business operating under new ownership.
Success in the first six months
