L2 System Administrator

Windows server administration

- Install, configure, patch and maintain Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 (physical and virtual).
- Manage server roles: file and print, IIS, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, Remote Desktop Services.
- Monitor performance, capacity and event logs; fix root causes, not just symptoms.
- Run monthly patching cycles through WSUS, SCCM/MECM or Intune, with rollback plans.

Active Directory and identity

- Administer AD DS: users, groups, OUs, trusts, sites and replication health.
- Create and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) Connect sync, MFA and conditional access.
- Handle privileged account reviews and access requests per policy.

Network administration

- Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, VLANs, trunking and inter-VLAN routing.
- Maintain firewalls (e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD): rules, NAT, site-to-site and client VPNs.
- Manage wireless controllers and access points.
- Diagnose LAN/WAN issues with Wireshark, ping/tracert, SNMP and NetFlow data.

Virtualization, backup and cloud

- Administer VMware vSphere/ESXi or Hyper-V hosts,



clusters and VM lifecycle.
- Operate backup and recovery (Veeam, Commvault or similar); run restore tests quarterly.
- Support Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online and basic Azure resources.

Security and compliance

- Apply server and network hardening baselines; remediate vulnerability scan findings.
- Manage endpoint protection / EDR consoles and respond to alerts with the security team.
- Keep audit evidence for ISO 27001, SOC 2 or internal controls.

Support, change and documentation

- Own L2 incidents and service requests within SLA; escalate to L3 with full diagnostics.
- Raise and execute change requests following ITIL change management.
- Maintain network diagrams, runbooks, asset inventory and knowledge-base articles.
- Coach L1 engineers and take part in the on-call rotation.
