Job Purpose

To support SH E&I; in ensuring maximum plant availability & improving productivity at optimum cost by supervising and coordinating safe operation and maintenance activities of Electrical equipment’s like Power supply, power distribution, motors, transformers, cables etc besides maintaining suitable spares for Plant and colony in line with the objectives of adhering highest standard of quality, quantity, safety and cost as per the business requirement.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context:-
Ginigera Cement Works (GiCW): a unit of Ultra Tech Cement Limited, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group is situated at Ginigera. GiCW established in 2007 and Cement production started from 2nd Oct 2008 with a production capacity 1.5 MTPA to manufacture Ordinary Portland Cement, Portland Pozzolana Cement, Portland Slag Cement at Village: Ginigera, Tehsil: Koppal, District Koppal (Karnataka). The total Plant area is 99 Acres.
Ginigera village is situated 380 KM from state capital Bangalore, main railway line of Gutakal - Hubli. Nearest railway station is Ginigera approximately 1.5 km in west from plant site. Koppal railway station is around 13 KMs from site towards west. Approach for road of NH 63 from Goothy to Ankola is 2.0 KMs from site towards south. Nearest Airport is Hubli approximately 135 KMs in west direction from plant site. GiCW is a Grinding Unit and there is no township facility. We had two Temples of Lord Hanuman and Lord Lakshminarayana in different locations at the entrance of our Plant. Employees Pick-up and dropping facilities available from nearby cities i.e., Hospet and Koppal cities to Plant, which are 25KMs and 12 KMs respectively.
The focus area for Job holder is to ensure operation and maintenance activities of Electrical equipment’s in plant and colony and also for providing timely and accurate information to Management for taking strategic decisions. Liasion with government authorities and ensuring zero non compliances by fulfilling all statutory compliances.
Major Challenges –
1. To increase the operational efficiency of the E&I; equipment’s.
2. To reduce the unscheduled stoppages.
3. To Manage all E&I; Activities with revised manpower requires a need to build capabilities of team to handle both roles.

Less availability of equipment’s for maintenance due to high dispatches and fluctuating demands effects the equipment efficiency.

-To know about IMS and other systems requirement and documents for Non-Conformity in section during internal and external audits or assessments.
-Implementation of critical spares & consumable SOP without any defilement
- Identify & arrange rectification of leakage points/unsafe points along with monitor & take corrective action for emission levels.KRA6Focus on SHE (Safety, Health & Workplace) along with Sustainability initiatives1. Ensuring 100% compliance of all safety standards and all applicable recommendations related to their concerned area.
2. Educating team about “I know my job”, “I know the hazards associated with my job and I applied control measures” & “I escalate to my senior” among manpower deployed in sections/department manpower including peer, WB & CL manpower
3. Timely conducting scheduled SO round and reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses on occurrences in the area of concern in system.
4. To conduct daily Tool Box Talk as schedule and before start the job any critical job along with SWP
5. Active participation in safety training, safety sub committees, standard champions meeting and any safety event
6. Ensure good housekeeping, limited use of power, no leakage of water, oil, air etc and reporting concerned if any abnormalities for corrective action
7. Adhering of all safety precautions on the site and off the site
8. Replicating good practice for saving environment for long run sustainability and creating awareness among manpower to save guard natural resources.
