Job Title: Azure Systems Administrator

Location: Remote

Duration: Fulltime

Salary Range: INR 30 LPA to 35 LPA

Role Summary

You will operate and harden the Client's Azure and Microsoft cloud estate, focusing on compliance, backup monitoring, licensing and patching. You will take routine administration off the architects and turn recurring work into documented, measurable routines. You will also identify risk before it becomes an incident and recommend improvements in areas such as licensing, cloud cost and automation. Architecture, security policy and prioritization stay with the Client.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Governance

- Monitor and remediate Azure Policy compliance, Microsoft Defender for Cloud secure score and recommendations, resource tagging standards and role assignments.
- Use Privileged Identity Management for just-in-time elevation.
- Run quarterly access reviews for privileged Azure and Entra roles, and maintain audit evidence and an exceptions register with named risk owners.

Backup Monitoring

- Review Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Azure Backup jobs every business day, and action every failure.
- Perform restore tests at least monthly with documented evidence.




- Report capacity and retention against recovery objectives approved by service owners.

Licensing and Cost

- Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure licensing, including assignment hygiene, reclamation of unused licences and add-on inventory (Visio, Project, Power BI).
- Forecast true-ups and raise purchase requests through the Client's procurement.

Patching

- Run the monthly patch cycle for Windows servers in Azure and on premises using Azure Update Manager, WSUS, PDQ or Configuration Manager, with patch rings, approved maintenance windows and CAB change records.
- Report patch compliance monthly, listing failed, unreachable and unsupported assets with risk owners rather than excluding them.

Operations

- Handle Active Directory and Entra escalations from the service desk.
- Maintain the certificate register and renewals, respond to monitoring alerts (Zabbix, Uptime Robot, Azure Monitor) and keep runbooks current.
- Support Azure migration and data centre reduction work under architect direction.
- Support new SaaS products, certificates and uniform Azure landing zone deployment.
- Work in the Client's service management platform as the system of record, and store all runbooks, diagrams and knowledge articles in the Client's repositories.
