Job Description
The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, maintenance, and technical support of SAP landscapes. The role supports SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP Net Weaver Java, SAP PO, SAP Solution Manager, SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA systems across Windows and Linux environments, including Microsoft Azure. The position requires 3-7 years of hands-on SAP Basis experience with SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle databases, with a solid focus on system availability, performance, security, troubleshooting, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibility:

- Perform day-to-day SAP Basis administration, system monitoring, health checks, troubleshooting, and operational support across SAP landscapes.

- Administer and support SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP Net Weaver Java, SAP Process Orchestration (PO), SAP Solution Manager, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP BW/4HANA systems.

- Perform SAP system start/stop, instance monitoring, work process monitoring, background job administration, spool administration, lock management, update monitoring, and RFC/connectivity checks.

- Manage SAP users from a Basis perspective, profiles/parameters, operation modes, logon groups, SAP services, and technical system configurations in coordination with Security and functional teams.

- Support SAP transport management (STMS), transport imports, troubleshooting of failed imports, and coordination of transport activities across environments.

- Perform kernel upgrades, SAP Support Package/Stack updates, SAP Notes implementation support, add-on/component maintenance, and patching activities following approved change procedures.

- Support SAP HANA administration including monitoring, backup/recovery coordination, memory and performance monitoring, alerts, services, tenant/system database checks, and basic SQL troubleshooting.

- Support SAP systems running on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, including database monitoring, space management, backup/recovery coordination, connectivity, and performance troubleshooting with database teams.

- Administer SAP application environments on Windows Server and Linux, including file systems, permissions, services, mounts, OS-level checks,



and coordination of OS patching and maintenance.

- Support SAP workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, storage, networking/connectivity, monitoring, backup/DR activities, and coordination with Azure infrastructure teams.

- Perform system copy/refresh, client administration and client copy activities, post-copy technical tasks, and environment validation as required.

- Monitor system performance and availability using SAP tools such as ST22, SM21, SM50/SM66, SM37, SM12, SM13, SM20, ST03N, ST04/DBACOCKPIT and related administration transactions.

- Support SAP Solution Manager / monitoring tools for system monitoring, Early Watch/technical monitoring, diagnostics, and operational reporting where applicable.

- Support SAP Net Weaver Java and PO systems, including Java instance monitoring, NWA administration, JVM/heap monitoring, deployments, logs/traces, and interface-related technical troubleshooting.

- Participate in SAP upgrades, migrations, S/4HANA transformation activities, HANA migrations, cloud migrations, high availability/disaster recovery tests, and planned maintenance activities.

- Manage and monitor SAP backups, file systems, certificates, RFCs, SAProuter/connectivity, interfaces, and technical batch operations; escalate infrastructure, network, or application issues appropriately.

- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, operational runbooks, system inventory, change records, incident/problem records, and audit evidence.

- Work closely with SAP functional, ABAP/development, Security, Database, OS, Network, Cloud, and vendor teams to resolve incidents and deliver changes.

- Participate in on-call / out-of-hours support for planned changes and priority incidents when required, and follow ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change,



and service management processes.

Job Specific Skills:

- Strong foundation in core SAP Basis administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, transports, jobs, spools, locks, updates, RFCs, profiles/parameters, and system performance analysis.

- Hands-on support experience with SAP ECC and SAP BW; practical exposure to SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA environments.

- Experience supporting SAP Net Weaver Java, SAP PO and SAP Solution Manager environments.

- Working knowledge of SAP HANA administration and familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases in SAP landscapes.

- Experience with Windows Server and Linux operating systems; ability to perform OS-level troubleshooting relevant to SAP applications.

- Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and SAP workloads on Azure, including VM, storage, networking, backup and DR concepts.

- Understanding of SAP system copies/refreshes, upgrades, patching, kernel maintenance, support packages and migration activities.

- Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, security hardening and SAP operational best practices.

- Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.

RequirementsQualification and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Bachelor’s degree in IT (BSc IT) or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant SAP Basis experience may also be considered.

- 3-7 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration and technical operations, supporting enterprise SAP landscapes.

Certifications:

- SAP Certified Technology Associate / SAP System Administration certification - preferred.

- SAP HANA administration certification - preferred.

- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Azure Administrator (AZ-104) - added advantage.

- ITIL Foundation - preferred.
