1. Job Objective

Provide senior technical leadership and design assurance for UPW and WWT systems in a semiconductor FAB / OSAT project. Apply direct experience from previous FAB projects to review critical treatment systems, guide the design team, manage interfaces with process tool OEMs and package vendors, and ensure systems meet water quality, recovery, environmental, reliability, and project delivery requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Lead UPW and WWT design strategy and establish design criteria using feed-water data, water quality targets, wastewater characteristics, process tool requirements, recovery targets, discharge criteria, and client standards.
- Provide senior technical direction for UPW systems, including pretreatment, RO, UF, EDI, degassing, polishing, storage, distribution loops, and return systems, as applicable.
- Provide senior technical direction for WWT systems, including collection, equalization, neutralization, physicochemical treatment, filtration, sludge handling, reuse, and discharge systems, as applicable.
- Review and resolve critical water balances, PFDs, P&IDs;, hydraulic/process calculations, equipment sizing, chemical dosing, process selection, and vendor package designs.




- Assess system reliability, redundancy, water quality, recovery, chemical consumption, maintainability, operational flexibility, and environmental compliance.
- Review treatment vendor proposals, process guarantees, water quality commitments, technical deviations, equipment selection, and interface responsibilities.
- Coordinate with client engineering, process tool OEMs, UPW/WWT package vendors, consultants, environmental specialists, and facility teams.
- Lead design reviews and risk assessments; ensure actions related to safety, environmental performance, and process reliability are resolved and documented.
- Guide and mentor engineers and mid-level managers; establish technical checking and design assurance practices.
- Oversee design progress, technical quality, risk registers, comment closure, and IFC release readiness.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination with piping, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, civil, structural, EHS, drainage, and environmental teams.
- Support construction, commissioning, performance testing, water quality validation, and operational-readiness reviews.

3. Technical Skills and Software

- Expert practical knowledge of UPW systems for semiconductor manufacturing and industrial wastewater treatment.




- Robust understanding of water chemistry, water quality parameters, membrane processes, ion exchange/EDI, polishing, chemical dosing, wastewater treatment, sludge handling, recovery, and discharge requirements.
- Ability to review process guarantees, mass/water balances, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, and vendor performance data.
- Experience reviewing AutoCAD drawings and 3D models in Navisworks, Revit, Plant 3D, or equivalent project platforms.
- Strong technical risk assessment, vendor management, environmental coordination, design assurance, and engineering decision-making skills.

4. Qualifications and Experience

- B.E./B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including direct prior work on semiconductor FAB projects; FAB experience is mandatory for this role.
- Demonstrated experience in UPW and WWT design, technical review, and multidisciplinary coordination in semiconductor or comparable high-purity facilities.
- Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating with international clients, consultants, and package vendors.
- Previous expatriate or international project assignment experience is preferred; assignment terms depend on project requirements.

5. Expected Candidate Capability

Provide senior technical ownership of UPW and WWT design, apply proven FAB experience to critical design decisions, guide the engineering team, resolve technical and interface issues, and ensure systems are ready for procurement, construction, commissioning, and performance testing.
