Role Title: Senior Training Content Developer

Role Description:

As a Senior Training Content Developer, you play a lead role in designing and building the instructional content that drives change adoption in business transformation initiatives. Within a project setting, you work closely with change practitioners, management consultants, subject matter experts, and other training specialists to translate business and process requirements into effective, engaging learning content. Your primary responsibilities include leading the design and development of end-to-end training content – course materials, job aids, simulations, and assessments – designing role-based training curricula, establishing instructional design standards and content quality benchmarks, and monitoring and measuring training effectiveness and compliance.

You take part in work groups, work sessions, and interviews with business and technical representatives, typically as a lead content owner rather than an observer. You bring seasoned, hands-on experience with HCL Digital Consulting practices and techniques specific to training, organizational change management, business transformation, and organizational design, and you are expected to apply that experience with minimal oversight.

In this role, you are expected to operate independently, exercise sound judgment on content design trade-offs, and mentor and review the work of less experienced training developers. Your sphere of influence within the project team generally includes team leaders, project managers, HCL and client peers, and client business users and subject matter experts. From an HCL management perspective, you should contact your HCL Reporting Manager (RM) for career guidance and orientation related to operating principles and project business practices.

Competency requirements for a Senior Training Content Developer will vary in mix and balance based on the opportunities presented by each project assignment. We expect that the majority of the competency examples listed below will be carried out independently,



with this role also reviewing and guiding the work of junior training developers.

Formal Certification and Training:

Formal certification is not required for this role; however, given the seniority of this position, you should hold – or be actively working towards – a recognized instructional design or talent development credential such as Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Certified Training and Development Qualified (CTDP), or a recognized instructional design certificate (e.g., ATD Instructional Design Certificate).

Expected Skills and Capabilities:

- Lead the definition of timing, frequency, stakeholder groups, message content, senders, media types, and feedback loops for a formal communication plan supporting training and content rollout
- Own the gathering and validation of educational requirements, and determine the appropriate proportion of instructional materials to reference documentation
- Apply adult learning theory and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to structure content that supports retention and on-the-job application
- Demonstrate expert familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) for assigning and tracking corporate training, such as uPerform, including the ability to configure and troubleshoot client-specific LMS setups with minimal assistance
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency with learning development and deployment tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, GoToWebinar, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.
- Lead the development of instructional courseware covering specific skills and behaviors or general instruction on a particular topic, and review courseware developed by junior training developers
- Lead or co-facilitate training sessions tailored to specific client audiences




- Lead the development of role-based training curricula for in-scope roles in the change initiative
- Evaluate the advantages and limitations of various training delivery modes – computer-based modules, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (VILT), and hybrid content delivery – and recommend the appropriate mix
- Own the development of the training approach, training plan, and implementation timeline
- Lead the development of reference documentation content, including online help, user manuals, and other reference materials
- Design and lead Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programs
- Lead project estimating activities for the training content development workstream
- Estimate and track effort remaining for assigned tasks and, where applicable, for the broader content development team
- Build credibility and partnership with appropriate client personnel through planned participation in client meetings, presentations, and working sessions
- Prepare personal time and expense reports following established HCL guidelines
- Prepare and present personal and workstream weekly status reports and task sheets that clearly outline issues and progress
- Manage the scope of assigned tasks to stay within project estimates and proactively alert project management to out-of-scope conditions
- Complete all assigned tasks by established project due dates
- Understand the structure of the client assignment (e.g., project plan/scope, statement of work, pricing strategy) and how the training content workstream contributes to the overall goals of the project team
- Provide input to task estimates when requested by project or proposal management
- Actively participate in, and where appropriate lead, status, team-building, and all-hands meetings with project staff
- Demonstrate strong written communication and presentation skills, including to senior client and executive audiences
- Demonstrate proficiency with standard desktop tools used to accomplish daily business activities and facilitate communications
- High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
