ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Fashion Designer who combines contemporary design thinking with a deep appreciation for traditional Indian textiles, techniques, and silhouettes.

The ideal candidate brings fresh perspectives, a refined aesthetic, and an exceptional eye for detail- translating creative inspiration into distinctive, commercially relevant collections while honoring the design identity of Anita Dongre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Creative Design & Collection Development

- Conceptualise and develop distinctive womenswear collections aligned with the Anita Dongre aesthetic.
- Research global fashion movements, art, architecture, culture and Indian craft traditions for design inspiration.
- Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, silhouettes and fabric stories.
- Create original designs with a solid understanding of proportion, construction, drape and detailing.
- Bring fresh ideas to the brand while respecting its established design identity.
- Develop a balanced collection of statement pieces and commercially relevant styles.

2. Aesthetic Excellence & Product Quality

- Demonstrate exceptional judgement in colour combinations, fabric selection, silhouettes, embellishments and finishing.
- Ensure every garment reflects the quality, sophistication and refinement expected of a luxury brand.
- Personally review prototypes, fittings and final samples.
- Identify design weaknesses and proactively improve garments before final approvals.
- Maintain consistency of design language across the collection.

3. Craftsmanship & Innovation





- Work closely with textile designers, embroidery teams and artisans to develop distinctive surface treatments.
- Explore innovative applications of traditional Indian crafts in contemporary silhouettes.
- Research new fabrics, textures, sustainable materials and construction techniques.
- Develop original design details that strengthen the brand’s identity.
- Balance craftsmanship, innovation, wearability and commercial viability.

4. Product Development & Execution

- Take ownership of assigned collections from initial concept through final approved samples.
- Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, sampling and production teams.
- Ensure design integrity is maintained throughout product development.
- Meet agreed design and sampling timelines.
- Work within defined costing and quality parameters without compromising the aesthetic.

5. Market Awareness & Customer Understanding

- Maintain a strong understanding of the luxury Indian and international womenswear market.
- Regularly research relevant designer brands, emerging silhouettes, fabrics and changing customer preferences.
- Understand the lifestyle, aspirations and wardrobe requirements of the Anita Dongre customer.
- Translate market insights into original and relevant collections.

6. Team Collaboration & Mentorship

- Guide junior designers in research, design development, detailing and presentation.
- Encourage creativity while maintaining high design standards.
- Collaborate constructively with the Product Head and cross-functional teams.




- Take responsibility for the quality and timely completion of assigned work.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

- 6–10 years of relevant design experience with a respected luxury or premium womenswear brand.
- Formal education in Fashion Design from a recognised institution.
- Exceptional aesthetic judgement and a sophisticated understanding of colour, proportion, fabric and silhouette.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating original design work and successfully developed collections.
- Knowledge of Indian textiles, embroidery, craftsmanship and contemporary construction techniques.
- Strong technical understanding of garment construction, draping, pattern making and fittings.
- Ability to interpret international fashion influences while maintaining a distinctive Indian design identity.
- Strong understanding of commercially relevant design.
- High standards of quality, detailing and finishing.
- Curious, self-motivated, collaborative and open to constructive feedback.
- Ability to take ownership and deliver within timelines.
- Proficiency in relevant design software is desirable.
