Citrix Product Owner

Job Summary The Citrix Product Owner is a position within the Charles River Laboratories Global Technology organization responsible for owning, governing, and continuously improving the enterprise Citrix service across virtual applications, virtual desktops, and secure remote access.

This role blends product ownership accountability with service management and project/program execution, ensuring Citrix capabilities are well-defined, prioritized, reliable, secure, and aligned with business requirements. The role serves as the central point of coordination between Citrix engineering and support teams, infrastructure, application owners, security, compliance, vendors, and business stakeholders.

The scope covers Citrix services supporting global business operations across data centers, branch offices, and public cloud environments.

The Product

Owner is accountable for service outcomes, roadmap, and priorities, with technical implementation and daily administration delivered through engineering and support teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Serve as the leader for the global Citrix service, accountable for its vision, business value, service performance, and continuous improvement.
- Define, maintain, and evolve the Citrix strategy and multi-year roadmap, balancing business requirements, user experience, security, cost, and technical feasibility.
- Act as the voice of the customer, translating business and application requirements into explicit, prioritized capabilities for virtual application delivery, virtual desktops, and secure access.
- Own and actively manage the Citrix backlog, including service enhancements, recurring incident remediation, platform upgrades, automation, capacity improvements, and technical debt.
- Define the Citrix service catalog, supported use cases, service boundaries, ownership model, and support responsibilities across internal teams and external providers.




- Partner with Citrix architects, engineers, and application owners to establish platform standards, validate solution designs, and ensure applications are suitable for delivery through the Citrix environment.
- Govern the lifecycle of applicable Citrix components, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix DaaS, Workspace, StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, Cloud Connectors, Virtual Delivery Agents, provisioning services, and NetScaler Gateway.
- Coordinate dependencies across compute, virtualization, storage, networking, identity, DNS, certificates, databases, endpoint devices, and public cloud services.
- Establish and review service-level objectives and SLAs for availability, support responsiveness, application access, session reliability, and user experience.
- Measure and report on service health, including login duration, application launch success, connection failures, session responsiveness, capacity utilization, incident trends, and user satisfaction.
- Partner with support and engineering teams to drive root-cause analysis and permanent resolution of recurring issues, including slow logins, profile failures, session disconnects, application launch failures, and performance degradation.
- Coordinate major incident escalations and stakeholder communications with incident management teams, ensuring business impact, restoration priorities, and follow-up actions are clearly understood.
- Own the planning and acceptance of Citrix upgrades, migrations, image releases, and service enhancements, with defined testing, business validation, change controls, and rollback criteria.
- Establish governance for desktop and application images,



provisioning, profile management, Citrix policies, and application compatibility in partnership with the responsible technical teams.
- Drive proactive monitoring and automation opportunities, including health checks, provisioning workflows, image maintenance, capacity management, and repeatable support activities.
- Partner with Security and Identity teams to embed appropriate access controls, multifactor authentication, privileged access management, secure configuration, vulnerability remediation, and audit logging into the service.
- Ensure Citrix changes and operational practices meet applicable compliance, documentation, and validation requirements for regulated business processes.
- Partner with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity teams to define Citrix recovery requirements, validate recovery dependencies, and demonstrate resilience through planned exercises.
- Be accountable for accurate service documentation, architecture records, operational runbooks, support procedures, knowledge articles, and recovery documentation.
- Own demand and capacity planning with business and infrastructure teams, ensuring the service can support expected concurrency, geographic requirements, and critical business periods.
- Partner with procurement, finance, and vendors to manage licensing requirements, renewals, support agreements, utilization, and service costs.
- Prioritize Citrix investments and tradeoffs to improve user productivity, reduce operational risk, and optimize total cost of ownership.
- Provide monthly program and service updates to the executive steering committee, covering performance, roadmap progress, risks, costs, and decisions required.
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and constraints, escalating decisions that affect service availability, security, user experience, or business continuity.
- Incorporate feedback from users, incidents, monitoring, audits, and vendors into continuous service improvement.
