About the Role

We are seeking a Director of QA to lead our QA automation engineering strategy across multiple client accounts and delivery teams. You will build scalable automation capabilities, establish technical standards and integrate continuous testing into software delivery.

This role requires a technically strong leader who can guide automation architecture, review frameworks and resolve complex testing challenges while leading QA managers, automation architects and SDETs. You will partner with engineering, DevOps, product and delivery leaders to improve test coverage, shorten feedback cycles and increase release confidence.

Key Responsibilities

- Automation Strategy and Roadmap: Own the QA automation vision and execution roadmap across client engagements. Assess automation maturity, prioritize investments and define measurable goals for coverage, reliability, execution time and maintenance effort.
- Framework Architecture: Lead the design and evolution of reusable automation frameworks for web, mobile, API and backend services. Establish standards for modularity, maintainability, configuration, reporting and parallel execution.
- Technical Leadership: Provide architectural direction, review automation code and framework designs, and guide teams through complex implementation challenges. Promote software engineering practices within QA, including version control, code reviews and reusable libraries.
- CI/CD and Continuous Testing: Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to embed automated tests into build and deployment pipelines. Define appropriate test suites and quality gates for pull requests, integration builds and releases.
- Automation Coverage: Establish a balanced approach across unit, component, API, integration and end-to-end testing. Work with developers to test at the appropriate layer and prioritize automation based on business risk.
- Test Reliability and Execution: Reduce flaky tests, improve failure diagnostics and optimize execution through parallelization, cross-browser testing and cloud-based device platforms. Establish clear ownership for test failures and maintenance.
- API and Integration Testing: Drive automation for REST and GraphQL APIs,



microservices and third-party integrations, including contract testing, authentication, data validation and negative scenarios.
- Test Data and Environments: Establish reliable approaches to test data creation, environment readiness, service virtualization and dependency management to support repeatable automated testing.
- Performance and Non-Functional Testing: Oversee performance and load-testing strategies using tools such as JMeter or k6. Partner with specialists to incorporate security and accessibility checks into delivery pipelines.
- Team and Practice Development: Build and mentor distributed automation teams. Define hiring standards, technical competency frameworks and development plans, and create reusable accelerators across accounts.
- Metrics and Improvement: Track automation effectiveness through risk coverage, escaped defects, flaky-test rates, execution duration and feedback speed. Use findings to improve frameworks and demonstrate business value.
- Client and Delivery Leadership: Present automation strategies, investment proposals and quality risks to clients and senior leadership. Support proposals, estimates, staffing plans and delivery commitments.
- AI-Assisted Testing: Evaluate practical uses of AI for test generation, maintenance and failure analysis, with clear validation and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 14+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with substantial experience in test automation and at least 5 years leading multiple teams or programs.
- Proven experience defining and scaling automation strategies across enterprise applications and client engagements.
- Strong background in designing automation frameworks,



reusable libraries and testing infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or C#.
- Deep expertise in relevant automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, WebdriverIO or Appium, with the ability to select tools based on application needs.
- Experience with API automation tools and libraries such as REST Assured, Karate, Postman/Newman or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience integrating automated testing with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of test architecture, test pyramid principles, contract testing, mocking and service virtualization.
- Experience with BrowserStack, Sauce Labs or equivalent platforms for cross-browser and mobile testing.
- Working knowledge of performance testing, SQL, backend validation and cloud-based application testing.
- Experience leading distributed teams within an onshore–offshore delivery model, preferably in technology consulting or digital engineering services.
- Proven ability to manage automation investments, staffing and tooling costs while improving delivery outcomes.
- Solid client communication, stakeholder management and leadership development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience establishing an Automation or Quality Engineering Centre of Excellence.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and containerized test execution.
- Experience testing AI-enabled applications and evaluating AI-assisted automation tools.
- Experience modernizing legacy automation suites and reducing maintenance overhead.
