Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Automation Architect to define and drive the organization’s enterprise test automation strategy, with Playwright as the primary framework for modern web automation.

The ideal candidate will architect, govern, and implement scalable automation solutions across web applications, APIs, databases, batch processes, and end-to-end business workflows, including applications within the TriZetto Facets healthcare payer ecosystem.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for defining automation roadmaps, establishing enterprise frameworks and engineering standards, identifying high-value automation opportunities, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines, and building sustainable automation capabilities that improve software quality, accelerate releases, and reduce manual testing effort.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Strategy &

- Architecture

- Define and execute the enterprise test automation vision, roadmap, and target-state architecture.
- Establish Playwright as a strategic automation framework for up-to-date web applications.
- Design scalable and reusable automation architecture covering web, API, database, batch, and end-to-end testing.
- Establish automation governance, coding standards, design principles, framework guidelines, and engineering best practices across delivery teams.
- Conduct automation assessments and identify high-value candidates based on business criticality, execution frequency, complexity, maintainability, and ROI.
- Define a unified automation approach for business processes spanning multiple applications and integration layers.
- Establish strategies for test-data management, environment management, execution orchestration, reporting, and defect diagnostics.

Playwright Automation
- Architect and develop enterprise-grade Playwright frameworks using TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Implement framework patterns including Page Object Model, fixtures, reusable components, utilities, configuration management, and data-driven testing.
- Design automation supporting cross-browser, parallel, UI, and API testing.
- Automate member, provider, customer service, and other enterprise portals within the healthcare payer ecosystem.
- Implement robust handling of dynamic elements, synchronization, waits, authentication, test data, retry mechanisms, and flaky tests.




- Leverage Playwright capabilities such as traces, screenshots, videos, reporting, network interception, API testing, and parallel execution for efficient execution and defect analysis.
- Mentor automation engineers and QA teams on Playwright architecture, framework development, coding standards, and troubleshooting practices.

API &
- Integration Automation

- Define enterprise-level API automation strategy and architecture.
- Build reusable automation for REST-based services and application integrations.
- Design automated validation across UI, API, database, EDI, and batch processing layers.
- Establish strategies for service-level validation, test-data setup, response validation, negative testing, and integration testing.
- Design end-to-end automated workflows that validate business transactions across multiple systems.
- Integrate API automation with Playwright and other enterprise automation frameworks where appropriate.

CI/CD &
- Quality Engineering

- Integrate automated test suites with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and/or GitHub Actions.
- Define automation execution strategies across pull requests, continuous integration, regression, release, and scheduled pipelines.
- Enable parallel and distributed execution to improve feedback time.
- Establish automated reporting and quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.
- Track framework and execution metrics including pass rates, flaky-test rates, execution duration, automation coverage, defect detection, and pipeline stability.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to implement shift-left and continuous testing practices.

Solution Design &
- Delivery

- Architect end-to-end automation solutions covering web, API, database, EDI, and batch validation.
- Evaluate automation technologies and recommend appropriate tools based on application architecture, scalability, maintainability, integration capability, and total cost of ownership.




- Ensure automation platforms meet enterprise requirements for security, scalability, maintainability, reliability, compliance, and operational sustainability.
- Define secure test-data management practices appropriate for HIPAA-regulated healthcare environments.
- Provide technical leadership throughout framework design, implementation, deployment, migration, and ongoing modernization.
- Conduct architecture reviews and technical reviews of automation solutions developed across delivery teams.

Automation CoE &
- Governance

- Establish and lead an Automation Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Define enterprise automation standards, reusable assets, reference architectures, framework templates, and governance processes.
- Establish technical review and framework onboarding processes for project teams.
- Develop reusable automation accelerators to improve delivery efficiency across programs.
- Define appropriate KPIs for evaluating automation maturity and effectiveness.
- Drive framework adoption and standardization across multiple products and delivery teams.

Stakeholder Management
- Partner with QA leadership, product teams, business stakeholders, developers, enterprise architects, DevOps, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and delivery teams.
- Present automation strategies, architecture proposals, investment requirements, business cases, ROI, and roadmaps to senior leadership.
- Translate business priorities into practical automation strategies.
- Manage technical engagements with automation vendors and strategic partners.
- Influence engineering teams to adopt common quality-engineering and automation practices.

Innovation &
- Continuous Improvement

- Drive adoption of Generative AI for areas such as test-case design, automation script generation, code optimization, test-data generation, failure analysis, and self-healing automation.
- Evaluate emerging automation technologies, AI-assisted testing capabilities, and quality-engineering practices.
- Continuously improve framework performance, reliability, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Monitor automation coverage, stability, execution trends, productivity improvements, ROI, and benefits realization.
