The Art-X Company is hiring for their client 1838 by Time of India a Collector Relations and Sales for their new vertical Art of India.

The Collector

Relations & Sales will be responsible for developing and managing Art of India's collector base and driving sales across exhibitions and gallery programming. The role will focus on acquiring new collectors, nurturing existing relationships and building sales opportunities among first-time buyers, emerging collectors, corporate clients and design professionals. The candidate will manage the sales process from initial engagement and artwork selection to negotiation, invoicing and delivery, while working towards defined monthly and annual sales targets.

Art of India is where it begins. It is a profitable curated art business inside The Times of India Group, five editions old, with hundreds of collectors who already own work bought through it. They are now turning it into a year-round business, with a Head in place and a permanent gallery opening in The Times of India building in Mumbai.

Please Note:

- The vetting process for this role comprises 2-3 rounds of interviews and may be followed by a brief assignment.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Fine Arts, Art History or a related discipline.

- Solid understanding of Indian modern and contemporary art.

- Working knowledge of art categories such as design, photography, collectibles and works on paper.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong negotiation, client management and relationship-building abilities.

Essential Experience:

- 4–8 years of experience in art sales, collector relations or client servicing at a gallery or auction house. A strong professional profile and relevant industry exposure will be prioritised over years of experience alone.

- Demonstrated experience in selling artworks and managing relationships with private collectors.

- Experience maintaining a client portfolio and working towards sales targets.

- Established relationships with collectors, emerging buyers, architects, interior designers or art consultants.

- Experience in client acquisition, sales negotiations and managing the artwork sales process.

- Familiarity with invoicing, certificates of authenticity, artwork delivery and post-sale coordination will be preferred.
