Job Description – Accountant

Position: Accountant / Accounts Executive

Key Responsibilities

1. GST & Taxation

- Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B).
- Maintain GST purchase and sales records.
- Reconcile GSTR-2B with purchase entries.
- Handle GST input tax credit (ITC) reconciliation.
- Maintain TDS records, deductions, payments and returns.
- Coordinate with the CA for GST, TDS and other compliance requirements.

2. Daily Accounting & Entries

- Maintain daily sales, purchase, receipt and payment entries.
- Record expenses, debit notes and credit notes.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in Tally.
- Handle journal entries, ledger scrutiny and reconciliations.
- Maintain petty cash and cash transactions.

3. Banking & Payments

- Manage daily banking transactions.
- Prepare vendor and supplier payments.
- Track outstanding customer payments and follow up for collections.
- Perform bank reconciliation regularly.
- Monitor payment gateway settlements, UPI and card payments.
- Maintain records of cheques, NEFT, RTGS and other bank transfers.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

- Maintain supplier and customer ledgers.
- Track payment due dates and outstanding balances.
- Prepare weekly payment schedules.
- Reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts.
- Ensure timely payment processing after management approval.

5. Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare daily cash and bank balance reports.
- Prepare weekly outstanding payment and collection reports.
- Maintain proper filing of invoices, bills and vouchers.
- Assist in monthly closing and preparation of financial reports.
- Coordinate with management and the CA during audits.

Skills Required

- Good knowledge of Tally Prime and MS Excel.
- Practical knowledge of GST and TDS.
- Experience in banking, payment processing and reconciliations.
- Robust understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Good organizational skills and accuracy.
- Ability to independently manage day-to-day accounts.
