Manufacturing

• Prepare moulds and tools: cleaning, sealing, release agent application, and placement of inserts and cores.

• Cut, kit and lay up reinforcements (woven fabrics, UD, NCF, mats and prepregs) by hand as per ply schedule and fibre orientation.

• Carry out wet layup, spray-up and resin infusion as required.

• Prepare vacuum bags with peel ply, release film, breather and bleeder; carry out leak checks and maintain vacuum integrity.

• Load and run oven and autoclave cure cycles as per cure sheet; monitor temperature, pressure and vacuum.

• Prepare SMC / BMC charges, load moulds and carry out compression moulding, demoulding and deflashing.

• Support thermoplastic composite processes such as consolidation, forming and joining of panels.

• Mix and handle resins, hardeners, gelcoats and adhesives in correct ratios and within pot life and shelf life.

• Carry out demoulding, trimming, drilling, sanding, bonding, edge finishing and minor repairs.

• Record process parameters, batch and lot details, and material consumption on route cards.

• Perform first-level visual and dimensional inspection of parts.

• Follow 5S, PPE and safe handling of chemicals, fibres, prepregs and hot tooling.

Team leadership and process development

• Lead a team of junior technicians and helpers; allocate shift work and check output.





• Set up new moulds and run process trials with the engineering team during prototype development.

• Help write and improve SOPs, work instructions, ply schedules and cure sheets.

• Identify defects (dry spots, voids, porosity, delamination, warpage) and support root-cause analysis.

• Train junior technicians on layup, bagging, curing, moulding and finishing practices.

Requirements

Essential

• Diploma or ITI with 8–10 years in composite layup, FRP moulding or SMC / BMC moulding.

• Strong hands-on skill in hand layup, vacuum bagging and oven or autoclave curing.

• Experience leading a shop-floor team.

• Sound knowledge of reinforcements, resins, prepregs, consumables and common process defects.

• Able to read drawings, ply schedules, cure sheets and BOMs, and contribute to SOPs.

• Valuable use of hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.

Preferred

• Experience with prepreg layup and autoclave processing.

• Exposure to resin infusion, RTM or other closed-mould processes.

• Exposure to thermoplastic composites or sandwich panels with foam or honeycomb cores. • Experience in prototype or new-product builds.

• Strong ownership of quality and safety.

• Practical problem-solver who can work closely with engineers.

• Willing to work in shifts as required.
