The Systems Administrator supports the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of customer technology environments. Working independently and collaboratively within the Shared Managed Services team, this role monitors and administers cloud services, identity and access, endpoints, servers, networks, backup, and security systems; resolves incidents and service requests; performs planned maintenance and changes; and maintains clear customer communication and technical documentation.

This is a primarily remote role, offering the flexibility to work from home while remaining connected to a collaborative Shared Managed Services team. Visits to customer sites, data centres, or the Gibraltar office may be required when an onsite presence is necessary for activities such as installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, recovery support, or company events.

Role Responsibilities

- Monitor and manage customer environments, respond to alerts, assess impact, and take appropriate remediation or escalation action.

- Monitor and administer backup and recovery services, investigate failures, verify
successful protection, perform recovery testing, and support data restoration when required.

- Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests, problems, and escalations in
accordance with documented priorities and service-level commitments.

- Administer cloud-based productivity, communication, collaboration, file-sharing, licensing, security, and compliance services.

- Administer cloud and on-premises identity services, directory synchronization, multi-factor authentication, access policies, and privileged access controls.

- Manage endpoint configuration, compliance, patching, software deployment, and security through centralized management tools.

- Prepare, schedule, test, document, and perform system updates, maintenance
activities, and approved changes.

- Provision and deprovision user accounts, devices, licenses, and access as part of
customer onboarding, employee onboarding, and offboarding processes.





- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, resource organization, and related platform services.

- Maintain physical and virtual servers and storage infrastructure.

- Review and respond to security alerts, including suspected phishing, endpoint, identity, network, and cloud security events, following established incident response and escalation procedures.

- Use service management tools to maintain accurate ticket notes, time entries, categorization, status, customer updates, and resolution details.

- Create and maintain customer documentation, standard operating procedures, recurring task records, and knowledge base articles.

- Collaborate with service desk, senior technical resources, the Director of Managed Services Operations and vendors to resolve issues and improve service delivery.

- Communicate clearly with customers about incident progress, risks, recommendations, planned changes, and next steps.

- Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance and on-call support as required.

- Travel to customer sites and data centres when required for hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or recovery activities.

- Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing needs of the organization.

Critical Knowledge, Skills, Experience

- Strong working knowledge of cloud productivity and collaboration services, identity and access management, directory services, cloud infrastructure, and endpoint management.

- Experience administering server operating systems, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery,



endpoint management, and network services.

- Experience with remote monitoring and management, service management,
documentation, automation, and security platforms used in a managed services
environment.

- Working knowledge of security fundamentals, including identity protection, endpoint security, vulnerability management, access controls, and incident response.

- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability, sound judgement, attention to detail, and ownership of issues through resolution.

- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.

- Ability to prioritize competing requests, work independently, collaborate effectively, and meet service-level commitments in a fast-paced environment.

- Relevant cloud, endpoint, server, networking, or security certifications are considered an asset.

- Experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is preferred.

Qualifications

Education and Certification Requirements

- College diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Network Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

- A minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a managed services environment.

- Equivalent combinations of education, industry certifications, and relevant practical experience will be considered.

- Microsoft certifications in Azure administration, Microsoft 365 administration, endpoint management, or identity and access management are preferred.

- Industry-recognized certifications in cybersecurity, networking, virtualization, or backup and recovery are considered an asset.

- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments is highly desirable.

- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to customer sites and data centres are required.
