Role & responsibilities The Subject Teacher cum Class Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the assigned subject while fostering students academic, personal, and social development.

As Class

Teacher, the role additionally owns the pastoral care, administration, and day-to-day well-being of an assigned class. The role promotes conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving in alignment with the schools mission, vision, and teaching-learning philosophy, working collaboratively with leadership, colleagues, students, and parents to contribute positively to institutional culture and student well-being.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Planning & Subject Instruction

- Plan and deliver curriculum-aligned lessons in the assigned subject, ensuring conceptual clarity and real-life application.
- Prepare structured lesson plans with clear learning objectives and outcomes.
- Use varied teaching strategies, activities, and technology to enhance learning and engagement.

2. Lesson, Resource & Classroom Readiness

- Review the lesson plan and all teaching materials at least one day prior to the class.
- Check and test all digital tools, smartboard/projector, or classroom technology before the session begins.
- Prepare the PPT, worksheets, or activity materials in advance do not leave preparation for the last minute.
- Anticipate 35 questions students may ask during the lesson and be ready with clear, confident answers.
- Keep classroom resources and learning materials organised, stocked, and in valuable condition at all times.

3. Assessment, Feedback & Academic Progress Monitoring

- Design and conduct assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.




- Analyse results to identify gaps and plan timely interventions.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

4. Differentiation & Inclusive Learning Practices

- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Support students requiring reinforcement and provide extension for advanced learners.
- Collaborate with support staff for inclusive practices.

5. Academic Planning, Coordination & Content Development

- Contribute to academic planning (annual, term-wise, weekly).
- Develop worksheets, question papers, and learning resources.
- Participate in moderation and ensure quality and alignment of assessments.

6. Classroom Management, Class Teacher Responsibility (Annexure II.1) & Student Development

- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and engaging classroom environment.
- Perform Class Teacher responsibilities including attendance, almanac checking (ensuring parents and teachers sign the almanac daily), student tracking, and well-being — as detailed in Annexure II.1.
- Monitor students’ academic and behavioural progress holistically.
- Ensure implementation of Behaviour for Learning expectations across school settings.

7. Student Supervision, Discipline & Safeguarding

- Undertake assigned supervision duties (corridor, break, dispersal, bus duty).
- Ensure student safety, discipline, and appropriate behaviour at all times.
- Address behavioural concerns promptly and report safeguarding issues.

8. Parent Communication & Collaboration

- Communicate student progress, concerns, and achievements with parents.
- Participate in PTMs and academic review meetings.
- Build a positive and collaborative parent-school partnership.

9. Professional Collaboration & School Engagement

- Collaborate with subject teams and participate in meetings, trainings, and PLDs.
- Undertake substitution periods and additional school responsibilities.
- Contribute to school programmes, events, and co-curricular activities.
