Role: Senior Java Engineer, Cloud Migration

About the Role

You will be an Software engineer working alongside the client team to assess, build and migrate workloads to AWS, delivering the bulk of the hands-on migration effort. You will use AI coding agents such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to fast-track migration work, including code analysis, refactoring, test generation and documentation, while keeping engineering quality high.

Key Responsibilities

- Discovery: Perform application and infrastructure discovery and dependency mapping, using automated tooling and AI-assisted code analysis to speed up assessment.
- Build and migrate: Build, migrate and configure workloads in AWS in line with the agreed design, including re-platforming and refactoring Java and microservices applications.
- AI-assisted development: Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate upgrades, refactoring, test creation, code review and migration scripting. Review all generated output for correctness, security and maintainability.
- Client collaboration: Work day to day with client application owners and operations teams to gather requirements, resolve issues and keep delivery on track.
- Documentation and knowledge transfer: Document environments, architectures and runbooks, and transfer knowledge to client teams.
- Cutover support: Support cutover activities,



including rehearsals, go-live and post-migration stabilization.
- Engineering standards: Apply valuable practice in testing, CI/CD, observability and security throughout the migration.

Required Skills and Experience

- 8+ years of hands-on Java development, including Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
- Strong AWS experience across compute (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda), storage, databases, networking and IAM.
- Practical, day-to-day use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot, with good prompting and review habits.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- CI/CD and containerization experience (Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Monitoring and observability experience (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana or similar).
- Comfortable working embedded in client teams, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- AWS certification (Developer Associate, Solutions Architect or equivalent).
- Experience with AWS migration tooling (Application Discovery Service, Migration Hub, MGN, DMS).
- Experience modernizing legacy Java applications (for example Java 8 to 17/21, monolith to microservices).
- Exposure to agentic or LLM-based development workflows.
- Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience.
