Senior Content Writer — Technical & Product Marketing
Location: Remote · Type: Full-time · Experience: 2-5 years ·
About the role
We're hiring our first senior content owner. You'll be responsible for everything our market reads about us, from deep technical blogs to the landing pages that convert visitors into customers, and the social posts that get our ideas in front of the right people.
This role sits at the intersection of product, marketing and sales. You won't be handed briefs. You'll decide what we should publish, who it's for, what it should achieve, and then write it to a standard that engineers respect and buyers act on.
What you'll own
1. Content strategy and planning (~15% of your time)
- Build and own the quarterly content strategy, tied directly to business goals: organic growth, signups, pipeline and product launches.
- Map content to every stage of the funnel (awareness, consideration, decision) so there are no gaps in the buyer journey.
- Run the content calendar end to end: prioritise topics, set deadlines and ship on schedule.
- Identify content gaps by studying competitors, search data, sales conversations and customer questions.
- Own the brand voice and maintain a practical style guide used across every channel.
2. Technical content (~30%)
- Write in-depth blogs, how-to guides, tutorials, use-case explainers and comparison pieces that genuinely teach the reader something.
- Interview engineers and product managers to extract the substance, then turn complex features, workflows and integrations into clear, accurate content.
- Write for both technical and non-technical readers, and know when each one is the audience.
- Ensure every technical claim is correct. Nothing gets published that an engineer would wince at.
- Build topical authority through content clusters, pillar pages and internal linking.
3. Product marketing content (~30%)
- Write and continuously improve conversion-focused copy for the homepage, landing pages, product and feature pages, and pricing page.
- Own launch content for new features and products: announcement blogs, landing pages, release emails, in-app copy and social posts.
- Write case studies by interviewing customers and pulling out the outcomes and metrics that matter.
- Create sales enablement material: one-pagers, battle cards, comparison sheets, email sequences and pitch narratives.
- Sharpen positioning and messaging by translating features into business outcomes and differentiating us clearly from alternatives.
4. Social and distribution (~15%)
- Repurpose long-form content into native posts for LinkedIn, X and other relevant platforms.
- Ghostwrite thought-leadership posts for founders and leadership.
- Write social content for launches, milestones, partnerships and events.
- Make sure every major piece is distributed, not just published: social, newsletter, community and sales channels.
5. Search, measurement and optimisation (~10%)
- Write content optimised for both traditional search (SEO) and AI-powered search and answer engines (GEO / AEO), so we're discoverable on Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar platforms.
- Track performance: organic traffic, rankings, conversions,
engagement and how often sales uses your content.
- Refresh and update existing content based on what the data shows.
- Report monthly on what's working, what isn't, and what you'll do next.
What you bring (must-haves)
- 2–5 years of content writing experience, with a solid focus on B2B, SaaS, or technology products.
- A portfolio showing real range: long-form technical content and conversion-focused product marketing copy. We'll ask to see both.
- Proven ability to learn a technical product quickly by reading docs, using the product and interviewing engineers, then explain it accurately.
- Excellent writing, editing and self-editing skills. You cut fluff instinctively and structure ideas clearly.
- A marketer's mindset: you understand positioning, audience, funnel stages and what each piece of content is supposed to achieve.
- Working knowledge of SEO and how AI search is changing content discovery.
- Understanding of how content performs on LinkedIn and X, and how to adapt one idea for each.
- The ability to work independently: take an ambiguous goal, ask the right questions, make decisions and ship.
- Comfortable publishing on your own in a CMS such as Webflow or WordPress.
- Strong organisation: you manage multiple pieces and deadlines without dropping any.
Nice to have
- Experience as the first or only content person at a startup.
- Hands-on technical familiarity: APIs, cloud, data, developer tools or AI concepts.
- Experience with analytics and SEO tools such as GA4, Search Console, Ahrefs or Semrush.
- Thoughtful use of AI tools to research and draft faster, without losing quality or voice.
- An active personal blog, newsletter or LinkedIn presence.
