Senior AI Product Designer (UX/UI)

SciSpace is building an AI Research Co-Scientist, helping millions of researchers, students, and R&D; teams understand, create, and publish research.

We are looking for a Senior AI Product Designer to own the end-to-end design of our AI-native product experiences, including conversational interfaces, agentic workflows, and data-intensive research tools.

This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role where you will work closely with founders and engineers to turn complex problems into intuitive, scalable experiences. Success means shipping high-quality AI product experiences quickly, building functional prototypes, and owning design quality from concept to launch.

Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end product design for AI-native experiences, including conversational AI, agentic workflows, generative UI, and research interfaces.
- Translate complex user problems into intuitive, scalable, and visually polished product experiences.
- Build functional, code-based prototypes using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex.
- Own and evolve the design system, integrating it with AI tooling through MCP.
- Collaborate closely with founders, product teams, and engineers to define and execute product vision.
- Create developer-ready designs, including reusable components, interaction specifications, and clear documentation.
- Drive the complete design lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to implementation, review, and launch.
- Maintain exceptional standards for usability, visual design, interaction quality, and execution speed.

Qualifications

- Education: Formal degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related discipline.



A master's degree from institutions such as IDC IIT Bombay, IISc, NID, IIIT-B, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of product design experience, currently working as a senior individual contributor.
- AI Product Experience: Minimum 1–1.5 years designing core product experiences at an AI-native company, rather than only AI features within a traditional product.
- Consumer Scale: Experience designing AI products serving 50,000+ users, with exposure to consumer metrics such as MAU, DAU, engagement, and conversion. AI product experience and consumer scale must come from the same role.
- AI Prototyping: Demonstrated experience building 3–4 functional prototypes using Claude, Cursor, Codex, or similar tools, including at least one 0-to-1 product used by real users.
- Design Systems: Strong expertise in design systems, reusable components, developer handoffs, and interaction documentation.
- MCP Experience: Hands-on experience connecting design systems with AI tooling through Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, design decisions, product thinking, and shipped experiences.
- Notice Period: Immediate joiners or candidates with a notice period of 45 days or less.
- Location: Willingness to work full time from the Bengaluru office.

Preferred Qualifications

- Academic or professional background in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or scientific research.
- Experience designing research platforms, scientific software, or data-intensive applications.
- Proficiency in motion and interaction tools such as Rive, Spline, After Effects, or Lottie.
- Experience independently building and launching AI-powered products used by real users.
