Plant Manager / Plant Head Light Engineering Factory (LEF)

Location: Ranchi, Jharkhand | Experience: 15+ years (5+ in plant leadership)

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader to run our Light Engineering Factory end to end: safety, quality, production, manpower and dispatch. You’ll lead operations from raw material to dispatch across CNC processing, press working, roll forming, welding and finishing. Products include tube structures, sheet metal components, greenhouse structures, cold rooms and panels. You’ll also set up the plant’s operating systems from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive production targets (in production hours), machine utilization and OEE across CNC press brake, power press, plasma/laser cutting, shearing, auto drilling and roll forming lines
- Guide setups, tooling, die changes and troubleshooting, and coach supervisors and operators on the floor
- Write SOPs, shift logs, DPR formats and inspection sheets, and set standard cycle times
- Enforce quality: dimensional checks, first-piece inspection, welding standards (WPS/WPQ,



NDT), and paint/DFT compliance
- Own EHS, ISO 9001/14001/45001 and Factories Act / labour law compliance
- Manage plant budget, scrap and nesting yield, and Lean/5S/Kaizen initiatives
- Report KPIs to management: OTIF 95%, rework 1.5%, OEE 80%, zero LTI

Requirements

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering (or a Diploma with strong experience)
- 15+ years in sheet metal, light structural / PEB, tube structure or greenhouse manufacturing, including 5+ years as Plant Head or Manager
- Solid hands-on knowledge of CNC, press and roll forming machinery
- A track record of building SOPs and shop-floor systems
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, nesting software (CypCut, ProNest, SigmaNEST) and ERP/SAP
- Experience leading a multi-shift team

Preferred: Paint shop or powder coating exposure, HDG coordination, and Lean, Six Sigma GB or ISO Internal Auditor certification.
