– Head of Ocean Freight

Position: Head – Ocean Freight

Experience: 12–18 Years

Location: Andheri, Mumbai

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in any discipline; Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.

1. Role Summary To lead the Ocean Freight business, overseeing import and export operations, commercial activities, pricing, and business development while driving profitability, customer satisfaction, and team performance.

2. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

2.1. Business Development

- Drive business growth, revenue, and profitability across ocean freight import and export services.
- Identify new business opportunities, trade lanes, and customer segments.
- Work with sales teams to acquire new customers and expand existing business.

2.2. Operations Management

- Oversee FCL and LCL import/export operations to ensure smooth and timely shipment execution.
- Ensure proper documentation, shipment tracking, and coordination with shipping lines, customs brokers, and overseas agents.
- Monitor operational performance and resolve shipment-related issues.

2.3. Pricing and Commercial Management

- Manage freight pricing, procurement, and rate negotiations with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
- Develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining healthy profit margins.
- Monitor market trends and optimise freight costs.

2.4. Financial Performance

- Monitor revenue, gross profit, budgets, and overall business profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, control costs, and minimise revenue leakage.
- Coordinate with finance teams for timely billing and job closure.

2.5. Customer and Partner Relationships

- Build strong relationships with key customers, shipping lines, and overseas agents.
- Handle major customer escalations and ensure service quality.
- Negotiate commercial terms and develop long-term business partnerships.

2.6. Team Management

- Lead, guide,



and develop the ocean freight team.
- Set performance targets, monitor productivity, and ensure effective resource utilisation.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, finance, and other branches to achieve business objectives.

2.7. Compliance and Process Improvement

- Ensure compliance with applicable shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and standard operating procedures.

3. Essential Skills

- Strong knowledge of ocean freight forwarding, FCL/LCL, and import/export operations.
- Experience in freight pricing, procurement, and commercial negotiations.
- Understanding of business development, profitability, and financial performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer relationship management skills.

4. Qualification and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline; a qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- 12–18 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, with substantial exposure to ocean freight.
- Experience in team management, commercial activities, and business growth is preferred.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹2,500,000.00 per month
