Role Description The Lead AI/ML Engineer role at Optum India is a full-time, on-site position based in Hyderabad. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and AI solutions for healthcare-related applications, including predictive models, decision-support systems, and intelligent automation. The Lead AI/ML Engineer will own end-to-end model lifecycle activities such as data exploration, feature engineering, model selection, training, validation, and performance monitoring in production.

The role includes collaborating with product managers, data engineers, and domain experts to translate business problems into technical solutions, as well as mentoring junior engineers and establishing best practices for model development and MLOps. The engineer will also contribute to technical architecture decisions, conduct code and model reviews, and ensure solutions meet quality,



security, and compliance standards.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Computer Science and Algorithms skills, with solid knowledge of data structures, software engineering principles, and scalable system design.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Neural Networks and Pattern Recognition, including experience with deep learning frameworks and model architectures relevant to real-world data.
- Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Statistics, including hypothesis testing, probability, and statistical modeling for data-driven decision-making.
- Candidates should possess practical experience in applying AI/ML techniques to production systems, including model deployment, monitoring, and optimization (MLOps).
- Candidates should possess proficiency in programming languages commonly used in ML (such as Python) and experience with libraries and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and cloud platforms.
- Candidates should possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Candidates should ideally have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, and prior experience leading AI/ML projects in a production environment; healthcare domain exposure is an advantage.
