JOB DESCRIPTION – DRAUGHTSMAN (MECHANICAL)

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Draughtsman to support the MEP design team in preparing mechanical service drawings for interior fit-out, retail, commercial interior, and Food & Beverage (F&B;) projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and modifying technical drawings using AutoCAD or Revit MEP, particularly HVAC layouts, air-conditioning systems, ducting, ventilation, and kitchen exhaust systems. The role also involves coordinating mechanical services with interior design and other MEP disciplines, incorporating engineering inputs and site changes, preparing shop drawings and as-built drawings, and maintaining technical documentation to ensure accurate and timely project execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Prepare and modify mechanical service drawings for retail outlets, commercial interiors, restaurants, cafés, food courts, and other F&B; fit-out projects using AutoCAD or Revit MEP.
- Develop HVAC layouts, including air-conditioning systems, ducting routes, ventilation systems, and mechanical equipment arrangements.
- Prepare kitchen exhaust, fresh-air, and ventilation layouts for restaurants, cafés, and commercial kitchen projects, as applicable.
- Prepare mechanical equipment layouts, sections, elevations, and installation details based on engineering inputs and project requirements.
- Convert engineering sketches, markups, site measurements, and design information into accurate technical drawings.
- Coordinate mechanical layouts with architectural drawings, interior design layouts, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting services.
- Coordinate duct routes, equipment locations, ceiling heights, and service access requirements to avoid clashes with interior elements and other MEP services.
- Assist in identifying space constraints, service-routing issues,



and potential clashes within false ceilings and restricted service areas.
- Update drawings based on engineer comments, consultant feedback, client requirements, design changes, and actual site conditions.
- Prepare mechanical shop drawings, installation details, and construction drawings for site execution.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings based on approved site changes and completed installations.
- Check dimensions, levels, annotations, equipment locations, and drawing references to maintain technical accuracy.
- Assist in preparing material take-offs and quantity calculations for mechanical services, as required.
- Coordinate with MEP engineers, interior designers, project managers, and site teams to clarify drawing requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain organized drawing files, revision records, and technical documentation.
- Follow project specifications, applicable standards, drafting conventions, and drawing submission procedures.
- Ensure assigned drawings, revisions, and submissions are completed within project timelines.
- Support the team in improving drafting accuracy, MEP coordination, and drawing quality throughout the project lifecycle.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

- Basic to intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD for preparing and modifying mechanical service drawings.
- Familiarity with Revit MEP will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of HVAC systems, air-conditioning layouts, ducting, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of kitchen exhaust and fresh-air systems for restaurants and commercial kitchens will be preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural layouts, reflected ceiling plans,



engineering sketches, and MEP drawings.
- Understanding of mechanical service coordination with interior design, electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting layouts.
- Ability to identify service clashes, ceiling coordination issues, and space constraints in interior fit-out projects.
- Knowledge of shop drawings, construction drawings, as-built drawings, and drawing revision procedures.
- Basic understanding of dimensions, levels, annotations, symbols, and drafting standards.
- Valuable attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work with engineers, designers, draftsmen, and site teams.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, incorporate feedback, and meet drawing submission deadlines.
- Willingness to learn new software, tools, and industry practices.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 1–4 years of relevant experience in mechanical drafting, HVAC drafting, or MEP design support.
- Experience in interior fit-out, retail, commercial interiors, restaurant, café, or F&B; projects will be preferred.
- Freshers with basic AutoCAD knowledge and an interest in mechanical drafting may also apply.
- Hands-on experience in preparing or modifying HVAC layouts, ducting drawings, ventilation layouts, and mechanical equipment drawings will be an advantage.
- Exposure to kitchen exhaust and fresh-air systems for commercial kitchens will be preferred.
- Knowledge of Revit MEP, BIM modelling, MEP coordination, and clash identification will be an added advantage.
- Internship or training experience in HVAC design, mechanical drafting, or interior fit-out projects will be considered.
- Ability to work under the guidance of senior engineers and draftsmen while maintaining drawing accuracy and meeting project deadlines.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
