Position: CNC-EDM Electrode Designer / In-charge

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities

- Design and develop EDM electrodes for Injection Moulds, Die Casting Moulds, Press Tools, Jigs & Fixtures.
- Prepare electrode models, drawings, and manufacturing data using CAD/CAM software.
- Analyze cavity geometry and determine optimum electrode strategy.
- Define spark gaps, shrinkage allowances, offset values, and electrode wear compensation.
- Plan roughing, semi-finishing, and finishing electrode requirements.
- Generate CNC machining programs for electrode manufacturing.
- Coordinate with CNC Milling, EDM, Tool Design, and Quality departments.
- Verify electrode dimensions before EDM operations.
- Monitor electrode consumption and optimize electrode utilization.
- Review workpiece and mould designs to minimize EDM cycle time.
- Troubleshoot EDM machining issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain electrode libraries and standard design databases.

Departmental Management Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise the EDM Electrode Design team.
- Allocate daily workloads and monitor project progress.
- Ensure timely completion of electrode designs as per production schedules.
- Conduct technical reviews and design validations.
- Train and mentor junior designers and operators.
- Establish SOPs, work instructions, and best practices.
- Coordinate with customers, tool designers, and production teams regarding technical requirements.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Monitor department KPIs and project milestones.

Planning & Coordination

- Review project timelines and prioritize electrode requirements.
- Ensure proper coordination between Design, CNC Machining, EDM, and Assembly departments.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings and tooling reviews.
- Support recent product development and proto-tool activities.





Quality Responsibilities

- Ensure electrode designs comply with customer specifications and project requirements.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and documentation standards.
- Conduct design verification before release to manufacturing.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling issues.
- Adhere to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and internal quality requirements.

Documentation Responsibilities

- Maintain electrode design records and revision history.
- Prepare BOMs, process sheets, and manufacturing documentation.
- Update electrode databases and project status reports.
- Generate technical reports related to EDM performance and productivity.

Required QualificationsEducation

- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, Production Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

- 3 to 5+ years in EDM Electrode Design and Tool Room Operations.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.

The CNC-EDM Electrode Designer / In-Charge shall have authority to:

- Assign departmental tasks and priorities.
- Approve electrode designs before release.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Coordinate resources for urgent tooling requirements.
- Conduct technical evaluations and employee training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
