Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute 1-D system-level simulations using GT-SUITE for DU and SU applications.
- Build an understanding of DU/SU architecture, components, operating characteristics, boundary conditions, and system interactions.
- Develop, maintain, and improve GT-SUITE models for component- and system-level analysis.
- Perform pressure-drop, flow-performance, and thermo-fluid system analysis for DU/SU applications.
- Support the development and improvement of Fast Running Models (FRMs) for integrated DU/SU performance evaluation.
- Work closely with CMHF technical experts during the knowledge transfer and capability-development phase.
- Reproduce and assess established models and use cases to understand the GT workflow, assumptions, modelling methodology, and post-processing approach.
- Correlate and validate 1-D models against available test data and/or higher-fidelity simulation results, where applicable.
- Perform sensitivity studies and provide sound engineering interpretation of simulation results.
- Interact with customers to gather input requirements and present the simulation findings by interpreting and explaining the physical significance of the results to them.
- Establish standard modelling practices, templates, documentation, and simulation workflows for long-term capability within CTCI.
- Collaborate with CFD, product engineering, testing, validation, and other cross-functional teams for system-level problem solving.
- Gradually take independent ownership of 1-D simulation Work Requests and provide explicit technical recommendations to stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, with a strong foundation in thermo-fluid sciences and system simulation.
- Relevant hands-on experience in 1-D system simulation is preferred. GT-SUITE experience should be prioritized over prior DU/SU product experience.
- Good understanding of 1-D thermo-fluid and system-simulation fundamentals.
- Experience with GT-SUITE, GT-POWER, or a comparable 1-D system-simulation tool.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, pressure-drop modelling, and flow-system modelling.
- Ability to develop, debug, and interpret physics-based simulation models.
- Understanding of model correlation and validation methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, test data, boundary conditions, and system requirements.
- Knowledge of Simulink/ Matlab is desired but not essential.
- Preferred (Positive to have skills):
- Hands-on experience with GT-SUITE.
- Experience in automotive, engine, fuel-system, dosing-system, aftertreatment, pump, or fluid-delivery system simulation.
- Experience developing reduced-order models or Fast Running Models.
- Exposure to 3-D CFD and an understanding of how 3-D analysis complements 1-D system simulation.
- Exposure to simulation automation and data processing using Python or MATLAB.
