Role Description The Head of Sponge Iron Plant will lead and manage end-to-end operations of the sponge iron kilns at Minera Group’s on-site facility in Bellary. This full-time role includes planning and overseeing daily production, monitoring kiln performance, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards. The role involves coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime, optimizing process parameters for efficiency, and managing raw material usage and inventory.

The Head of Sponge Iron Plant will supervise and develop plant personnel, implement best practices,



and collaborate with other departments such as pellet plant, steelmaking, and power plant to ensure smooth integration across the value chain. The role also includes reporting operational metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting strategic decisions related to capacity utilization and future expansion.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust technical and operational skills in sponge iron manufacturing, kiln operation, process control, and production planning.
- Candidates should possess skills in safety management, environmental compliance, and quality assurance, with familiarity in relevant standards and regulations.
- Candidates should possess leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, training, performance management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Candidates should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, including data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Candidates should possess communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Beneficial qualifications include a degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and significant experience in sponge iron or steel plant operations at a supervisory or managerial level.
- Experience with waste heat recovery systems, energy optimization, and sustainable operations, as well as familiarity with ERP or plant management software, is an advantage.
