DCB Plant Development & Operations Lead

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineering professional to lead the development, commissioning, and operational excellence of an integrated Dichlorobenzene (DCB) manufacturing facility. The role will be responsible for driving technical decisions, plant setup, process optimization, commissioning activities, and stable commercial operations while ensuring the highest standards of process safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Education

B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering. Candidates with a B.Sc. and significant relevant experience in DCB or chlorinated organic chemicals may also be considered.

Experience

15-20 years of experience in specialty chemicals, chlorinated organic chemicals, or related process industries.

Minimum 5 years of direct experience in DCB manufacturing, process technology, plant commissioning, operations, or technical services.

Candidates with 8+ years of hands-on DCB exposure will be preferred.

Experience working with established DCB producers or businesses involved in chlorinated aromatics and downstream intermediates.

Proven track record in leading plant development, commissioning, production, or technical teams in chemical manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of DCB manufacturing projects from concept through commissioning and commercial operation.

Drive process design reviews, plant configuration decisions, equipment selection, and technology evaluation.

Manage commissioning, start-up, performance testing, and operational stabilization of the facility.

Develop and implement SOPs, operating procedures,



troubleshooting guidelines, and process improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with engineering consultants, EPC partners, technology providers, equipment vendors, and cross-functional internal teams.

Monitor plant performance, process efficiencies, yields, and product quality parameters.

Ensure compliance with all process safety, EHS, regulatory, and quality standards.

Provide technical leadership for operational issues, process optimization, debottlenecking, and reliability improvement projects.

Build, mentor, and lead high-performing operations and technical teams.

Support future expansion projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Competencies

Strong exposure to DCB manufacturing processes, including chlorination, separation, purification, and downstream processing.

Practical knowledge of nitration, hydrogenation, and hydrolysis operations.

Understanding of production technologies, process controls, and quality requirements related to:

- Para-Dichlorobenzene (PDCB), including flakes and high-purity grades
- Ortho-Dichlorobenzene (ODCB)
- 2,3- and 3,4-Dichloronitrobenzene (DCNB)
- 2,3- and 3,4-Dichloroaniline (DCA)
- 2,3-Dichlorophenol (DCP)

Strong knowledge of process safety management, HAZOP studies, risk assessment, and operational excellence practices.
