Content Strategist
About AppsForBharat
AppsForBharat is a Series C funded faith-tech startup backed by leading investors including Fundamentum, Susquehanna Asia VC, Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital), Elevation Capital, and BEENEXT. Our team draws talent from IITs, IIMs and other premier institutes, with deep experience scaling high-growth consumer internet startups.
Our flagship product, Sri Mandir, launched in November 2020, is the world's largest app for Hindu devotees, a digital sanctuary offering seamless access to sacred rituals, divine teachings, and a vibrant spiritual community. The app is growing 20–25% month-on-month, and content is at the heart of how we build daily habit and devotion among millions of users.
Content is at the heart of one of our flagship devotee-facing initiatives — a steady stream of devotional, scripture-rooted, and culturally resonant content that keeps devotees engaged with their faith every single day. This role is central to how that experience is planned, written, and brought to life across formats.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Content Strategist who can independently own content strategy, scriptwriting, video production and paid content campaigns for one of our key devotional content initiatives. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thinks like a strategist, executes like a creator and measures like a performance marketer.
You will take content from idea to script to final video, and from organic publishing to paid distribution, working closely with Design, Product and Growth teams. Fluency in Hindi is mandatory, as the majority of scripting, storytelling and devotee communication happens in Hindi.
Key Responsibilities
Script & Copywriting
- Write compelling, culturally authentic scripts and copy across short-form video, long-form video, in-app, social and ad formats.
- Balance devotional authenticity with a modern, engaging storytelling style suited to how audiences consume content today.
- Write and review scripts confidently and accurately in Hindi.
Content Strategy & Planning
- Own the content strategy for a high-priority devotional content vertical, ensuring a consistent, high-quality publishing cadence.
- Plan and manage content calendars that balance evergreen devotional content with trending, seasonal and festival-linked themes.
- Identify content gaps and opportunities by studying devotee behaviour and engagement trends.
Performance & Paid Content
- Independently plan, launch and manage paid content campaigns on platforms such as Meta and YouTube.
- Create ad scripts and creative variants, and run structured tests on hooks, formats and messaging.
- Track key metrics such as CTR, CPI, view-through and retention, and optimise budgets and creatives based on performance.
Production Oversight
- Oversee the journey from script to final video, working closely with production and design teams.
- Review shot content and edits for accuracy, tone and devotional sensitivity before publishing.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Design, Product and Growth teams to align content output with product experiences and growth goals.
- Partner with Growth and Analytics to understand what drives engagement and acquisition, and translate those learnings into the content plan.
Content Operations & Trend Awareness
- Manage end-to-end content operations, from ideation and planning to production tracking and publishing timelines.
- Stay on top of trending formats, cultural moments and festival calendars, and continuously experiment with new storytelling styles.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience: 2–4 years in content strategy, scriptwriting,
content production or performance creative, ideally in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
- Hindi language proficiency: Mandatory. You should be able to write, review and refine scripts and copy fluently in Hindi.
- Strong scriptwriting and storytelling skills across short-form and long-form video formats.
- Hands-on experience independently running and optimising paid content or ad campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to manage content calendars and multiple pieces of content in production simultaneously.
- A strong understanding of what drives engagement and performance on devotional and trending content.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven scale (at least one of the following):
1. Owned the budget for paid video/content campaigns end to end (not just the creatives), and can show how you improved results such as CPI, CTR or ROAS, or
2. Created or scripted content that went viral on a major platform such as Instagram, YouTube or Facebook, reaching far beyond the account's existing followers.
- Prior experience creating devotional, spiritual or cultural content.
- Hands-on experience overseeing video production, from script to final edit.
- Experience working with content calendars tied to festivals, cultural events or trending news cycles.
- Familiarity with short-form video platforms and AI tools for content creation.
Why you'll love it here
- Own content that reaches and inspires millions of devotees every single day.
- True end-to-end ownership: strategy, script, production, and publishing.
- Highly team-oriented, autonomous work culture.
- Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives.
- Health & wellness benefits for you and your family.
- A serene, pet-friendly, peaceful office in the heart of HSR Layout, Bangalore.
Join us in shaping how millions connect with their faith, one story at a time.
