Primary Social Teacher – Job Description (JD)

Job Title: Primary Social Studies Teacher

Department: Primary Education

Job Purpose:
To teach Social Studies to primary-level students, develop their understanding of society, history, geography, culture, and civic values, and encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and responsible citizenship.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons for primary classes.
- Teach topics related to history, geography, civics, culture, and the environment.
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, teaching aids, and classroom activities.
- Use interactive teaching methods such as storytelling, discussions, projects, maps, and educational games.
- Develop students' observation, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Assess students through classwork, assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Maintain students' academic records and provide regular feedback.
- Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
- Encourage teamwork, respect for diversity,



and social responsibility.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students' progress.
- Participate in school events, meetings, training sessions, and other academic activities.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Arts, Social Sciences, or a relevant subject.
- B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. preferred, as applicable.
- Good communication and classroom-management skills.
- Knowledge of primary-level teaching methodologies.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with smart classroom teaching.
