Summary:

UST is looking for an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer – RTOS & Industrial Communication Protocols, based in Navi Mumbai, to join our Electrical Engineering / Power & Energy Products team. The role calls for strong expertise in embedded firmware development, RTOS, Ethernet-based communication, and industrial communication protocols. You will develop and integrate firmware for industrial and electrical products that require reliable, real-time communication.

The Opportunity:

- Design, develop, integrate, and debug embedded firmware for industrial applications.

- Develop applications on RTOS-based embedded platforms, including task scheduling, inter-task communication, synchronization, timers, interrupts, and memory management.

- Implement and integrate industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet / TCP/IP, and DNP3.

- Develop and maintain Ethernet-based communication interfaces for embedded devices.

- Perform protocol integration, debugging, packet-level troubleshooting, and communication performance analysis.

- Develop and debug low-level firmware, device drivers, BSPs, and hardware interfaces.

- Interface firmware with industrial communication modules, controllers, sensors, and related embedded hardware.

- Perform unit testing, integration testing, system-level debugging, and defect resolution.

- Work closely with hardware, system, testing, and product engineering teams.

- Participate in requirements analysis, technical design, code reviews, and firmware documentation.

- Support root-cause analysis of firmware and communication-related issues.

What you need:

- 5–10 years of embedded firmware development experience.

Required Skills:





- Strong hands-on experience in Embedded C / C++.

- Strong practical experience with RTOS.

- Hands-on development and integration experience with Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet / TCP/IP networking, and DNP3.

- Good understanding of the TCP/IP stack, sockets, Ethernet interfaces, and network communication.

- Secure bootloader development.

- Experience with microcontrollers / microprocessors and embedded systems.

- Experience in firmware debugging using tools such as JTAG/debuggers, protocol analyzers, Wireshark, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

- Good understanding of embedded software architecture, device drivers, interrupts, memory management, and real-time systems.

- Experience with Git or equivalent version-control systems.

Desired Skills:

- Experience developing firmware for industrial automation, power systems, energy management, protection, control, or electrical products.

- Exposure to additional protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus RTU, CAN/CANopen, MQTT, SNMP, or IEC 60870-5-104.

- Experience with FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux, ThreadX/Azure RTOS, VxWorks, or similar real-time platforms.

- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for Ethernet-connected embedded devices.

- Experience with ARM-based MCU/MPU platforms such as STM32, NXP, TI, Renesas, or equivalent.

Qualification:

- B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
