Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Audit Officer / Audit Executive with hands-on experience in UK/Ireland audits. The candidate will be responsible for executing audit assignments, identifying financial risks, reviewing controls, and supporting audit planning through to finalization while ensuring compliance with UK regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Audit Execution & Testing

- Follow and execute audit test plans as per UK/Ireland audit methodology.
- Perform substantive and control testing across key financial areas.
- Examine financial records to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Identify risk areas, including potential misstatements or mischarges.

2. Accounts & Financial Review Working knowledge of the UK year-end accounts process, including:

- Opening balance adjustments.
- Bank and credit card reconciliations.
- VAT and PAYE reconciliations.
- HP/Bank loan reconciliations.
- Directors account review.

Additional responsibilities:
- Analyse cash flows, balance sheets, and financial statements.
- Assess accounting systems and internal financial controls.

3. Data & Reporting

- Gather, organise, and prepare financial data using Advanced Excel.
- Use specialised audit software such as Mercia OmniPro Audit template (preferred).




- Draft detailed audit reports, findings, and management letters.
- Prepare asset utilisation reports and audit result summaries.
- Create reports for management and independent audit teams.

4. Risk & Compliance

- Measure and communicate financial risks within the organisation.
- Ensure implementation of best practices in financial reporting and documentation.
- Support management in understanding financial risks and strategic implications.

5. Client & Team Management (For Executive Level)

- Oversee multiple audit assignments from planning to finalisation.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of audit engagements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Lead and guide junior auditors, review their work, and support professional development.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Solid analytical and risk assessment skills.
- Good understanding of UK/Ireland accounting standards and audit procedures.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial controls.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and audit tools.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple assignments.

Preferred Qualification Experience with OmniPro Audit templates will be an added advantage.
