Role Title : AVP, Principal Software Engineer (L11)

Organizational Overview : Role Summary/Purpose : Key Responsibilities : As a senior technical lead, you will own technical direction, delivery execution, and operational readiness across multiple teams and stakeholders:

- Drive business commitments by aligning scope, sequencing, and technical approach with Product Management, and ensuring delivery plans are realistic, transparent, and measurable.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture/design reviews, code reviews, and guidance to engineers to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
- Perform Technology Alternate Assessments and create Proofs-of-Concept (as necessary) to validate options and inform technical decisions.
- Work collaboratively with Product Management and Platform Engineering teams during development, launch, and continuing refinement of products iteratively.
- Collaborate with internal technical resources and third-party vendors to resolve issues, understand underlying causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Work with team members to design, architect,



and implement solutions across geographic locations, ensuring effective coordination and consistent engineering execution.
- Coordinate and communicate status across stakeholders, and report delivery progress, risks, and dependency needs to leadership on a regular cadence.
- Maintain deep hands-on technical knowledge by evaluating trends in modern software development practices; continuously learn and stay at the leading edge of industry trends.

Required Skills/Knowledge :

- Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of system engineering experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of skilled system engineering experience.
- 8+ years of Strong hands-on development experience in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade services.
- Experience building and rolling out SDKs, including API design, backward compatibility/versioning strategy, documentation, release management, and consumer enablement.
- 5 + years of Working knowledge of at least one relational databases (e.g., MySQL), including schema design, performance considerations, and transactional data access patterns.
- Solid understanding of encryption and tokenization technologies and secure development practices (data protection in transit and at rest).
- Experience with observability, logging, and production monitoring, including tools such as Splunk and New Relic.

Work Timings : 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST**

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time - 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose.
