JOB PURPOSE

The Manager Coal Washery & RMP will plan, lead and control the operation and maintenance of the coal washery and RMP (coal handling plant) at Raigarh. The role is responsible for meeting production, yield and washed coal quality targets, ensuring equipment reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance, controlling O&M; cost and spares, and maintaining safety, statutory and IMS compliance. Through effective team leadership and decision making, the incumbent will ensure a steady, quality coal supply to downstream plant operations.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Washery & RMP Operations

- Plan daily production for washery and RMP circuits.
- Lead shift teams to meet throughput and yield targets.
- Review PLC/DCS parameters and act on process deviations.

B. Coal Quality & Optimisation

- Ensure washed coal meets ash and moisture specifications.
- Review raw coal characterisation and set washing parameters.
- Drive yield, recovery and ash optimisation initiatives.

C. Maintenance & Reliability

- Plan preventive and predictive maintenance for all equipment.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of major failures.
- Plan and execute shutdowns with minimum downtime.

D. Spares & Cost Control

- Plan critical spares and control inventory levels.
- Monitor O&M; cost against approved budget.
- Manage contractors and service vendors for performance.

E. Safety & Compliance

- Own safety systems and permit discipline in the area.
- Ensure IMS, 5S and environmental compliance for rejects and slurry.

F. MIS & Documentation

- Review daily MIS, plant reports and coal stock reconciliation.




- Maintain updated drawings, flow diagrams and Lighthouse ERP records.
- Keep departmental documentation and records audit-ready.

G. Team Leadership

- Lead, train and develop operations and maintenance teams.
- Take timely decisions during breakdowns and process upsets.
- Coordinate with SID, raw material yards and logistics teams.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications & Certifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Certification in condition monitoring, TPM or IMS (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) preferred

Relevant Experience

- 8–12 years in coal washery and RMP (coal handling plant) operation and maintenance
- At least 3 years leading a shift or section team, including contractors
- Experience in an integrated steel, sponge iron or power plant preferred
