Job Overview
The Fortra DLP and Boldon James Data Classification Consultant is responsible for implementing and managing data loss prevention (DLP) solutions and data classification strategies within an organization. The consultant will leverage Fortra’s Data Loss Prevention tools and Boldon James Data Classification software to help secure sensitive data, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and enforce data governance policies. This role requires strong expertise in data security, classification methodologies, and an understanding of legal and industry compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities

Solution Implementation :
- Design, configure, and deploy Fortra DLP and Boldon James Data Classification solutions across the organization’s infrastructure.
- Ensure the seamless integration of data classification tools with existing security frameworks and applications.
- Conduct testing and validation of DLP and classification rules and policies to ensure effectiveness.
1. Data Classification Strategy :
- Develop and implement data classification policies and frameworks based on organizational needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define sensitive data types (e.g., PII, PHI, IP) and enforce classification rules.
- Train employees on the use of data classification tools and the importance of data protection.
1. DLP Policy Development :
- Create and manage DLP policies for monitoring, detecting, and preventing data breaches or unauthorized data transfers.
- Fine-tune DLP rules to reduce false positives and negatives while improving data protection accuracy.
- Work with IT and security teams to establish incident response plans for detected breaches.

Compliance and Governance :
- Ensure DLP and data classification solutions comply with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Regularly audit and review classification and DLP policies for adherence to corporate security standards and compliance mandates.
1. Support and Troubleshooting :
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for DLP and data classification tools.
- Act as the main point of contact for any escalated data security incidents related to DLP or data classification.
1. Reporting and Analytics :
- Develop detailed reports on DLP incidents, data classification efforts, and compliance metrics.
- Utilize data analytics to monitor and enhance the effectiveness of data security measures.
Key Requirements
- Technical Expertise :
- Proficiency in Fortra’s DLP solutions and Boldon James Classifier .
- Experience with data classification frameworks and the creation of DLP policies.
- Strong understanding of security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
- Familiarity with data encryption, masking, and tokenization techniques.
- Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology , Cybersecurity , or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience working with DLP and data classification tools.
- Relevant certifications in DLP or data security (e.g., CISM , CISSP , CEH ) are a plus.
- Skills :
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with IT teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to stay updated on the latest trends in data security, compliance, and threat landscapes.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Data Classification projects .
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR , HIPAA , and other data protection regulations.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based DLP and classification tools.
