Service Engineer is responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of respiratory, critical care, and biomedical equipment. The role requires both field and in-house service support, ensuring equipment uptime and compliance with healthcare standards.
Role & responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install and configure equipment such as:
- CPAP / BiPAP machines
- Oxygen concentrators (portable & stationary)
- Ventilators (basic/transport)
- Patient monitors and suction devices
- Demonstrate proper usage to patients, caregivers, and hospital staff
2. Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per schedule
- Diagnose and repair faults in:
- Respiratory devices (ResMed, Oxymed, etc.)
- ICU and critical care equipment
- Replace defective parts and ensure calibration
3. Field Service Support
- Attend breakdown calls at hospitals and patient homes
- Ensure quick turnaround time (TAT) for repairs
- Maintain service logs and reports
4. Technical Documentation
- Maintain service records, job cards, and AMC/CMC documentation
- Follow SOPs and manufacturer guidelines
5. Customer Support & Training
- Train end users on device operation and maintenance
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting guidance
6. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to biomedical safety standards
- Follow infection control protocols and electrical safety norms
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
- 13 years experience in medical equipment servicing (preferred)
- Freshers with robust technical knowledge may be considered
Skills Required
- Robust troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Basic knowledge of electronics and circuits
- Understanding of biomedical equipment standards
- Good communication and customer-handling skills
- Ability to work in field conditions
Additional Requirements
- Two-wheeler with valid license (for field visits)
- Willingness to travel locally
- Availability for emergency service calls
Preferred Experience
- Experience with authorized service centers of ResMed, Oxymed, or similar brands
- Exposure to NABH hospital environments
