Job Title: Fashion Faculty

Department: Fashion Design / Fashion Merchandising / Fashion Technology (depending on institution focus)

Reports To: Department Head / Academic Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Fashion Faculty is responsible for teaching and mentoring students in various aspects of fashion, including design, merchandising, history, technology, sustainability, and trend analysis. They will help students develop technical skills, creativity, and a robust understanding of fashion theory, preparing them for successful careers in the fashion industry.

Key Responsibilities:

- Teaching & Curriculum Development:
- Develop, update, and deliver engaging and relevant course materials for undergraduate/graduate students in fashion-related programs.
- Conduct lectures, seminars, workshops, and studio classes on subjects such as fashion design, pattern making, textiles, fashion history, fashion illustration, and more.
- Integrate hands-on projects and assignments to foster practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge.
- Use a variety of teaching methods including digital tools, industry examples, and guest lectures to enhance student learning.
- Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with the institution’s educational standards and industry trends.
- Student Support & Mentorship:
- Provide academic guidance and career counseling to students, offering feedback and support for their growth.
- Mentor students through design projects, portfolio development, and internships, preparing them for real-world experiences.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and exams.




- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where creativity and self-expression are encouraged.
- Research & Industry Engagement:
- Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the fashion industry.
- Participate in research and development in the areas of fashion theory, sustainable fashion, or other related fields.
- Collaborate with industry professionals, attend fashion events, and develop relationships with potential employers to create opportunities for students.
- Contribute to academic research, publications, or conferences within the field of fashion.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist in the management of academic records, including attendance, grading, and student evaluations.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development committees, and other academic initiatives.
- Contribute to accreditation efforts and institutional development of fashion programs.
- Community and External Collaboration:
- Represent the institution at fashion-related events, workshops, and conferences.
- Develop and maintain strong industry connections to bring real-world exposure to students.
- Encourage students to participate in fashion shows, competitions, and collaborative projects.

Qualifications:

- Education:
- A Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Technology,



or a closely related field. A Ph.D. or qualified certifications in fashion are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in a higher education institution, or at least 5 years of practical industry experience in fashion design or merchandising.
- A strong portfolio of personal work or professional experience in the fashion industry is desirable.
- Experience with the latest fashion design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD programs) and an understanding of digital fashion tools.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
- Strong knowledge of fashion industry standards, trends, and best practices.
- Experience in curriculum development and academic assessment methods.
- Proficiency in classroom management and the ability to use educational technology.

Desirable Attributes:

- Collaborative, innovative, and adaptable to changing industry demands.
- Strong network in the fashion industry, with the ability to bring in guest speakers and organize field trips or internships.
- Experience in sustainable fashion, fashion entrepreneurship, or fashion tech is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
