With a strong focus on quality, statutory compliance, workplace safety, and timely project delivery, the company works closely with clients, consultants, and project teams to deliver reliable and efficient fire safety infrastructure.
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to oversee safety compliance at industrial and construction project sites related to fire fighting system installation and execution.
The candidate will be responsible for monitoring site safety activities, identifying hazards, implementing preventive measures, enforcing safety regulations, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
The role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of construction and fire protection activities, and the ability to maintain a safe working environment for all workers and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Inspection & Risk Assessment
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify fire, electrical, and construction-related hazards.
- Perform daily and weekly safety audits of scaffolding, ladders, electrical systems, lifting equipment, machinery, and work areas.
- Carry out Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments before high-risk activities.
- Ensure safe use of tools, equipment,
and construction practices.
- Monitor housekeeping standards and safe material storage at site.
2. Safety Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.
- Maintain safety records including:
- Safety audit reports
- Incident and accident logs
- Inspection checklists
- Permit records
- Toolbox talk records
- Monitor installation and testing activities of fire protection systems such as:
- Sprinkler systems
- Hydrant systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Fire pumps
- Ensure proper maintenance and readiness of firefighting equipment.
3. PPE & Safety Protocols
- Enforce mandatory usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct awareness sessions on PPE usage and fire safety practices.
- Take immediate corrective action in case of unsafe acts or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure workers follow safety procedures during all construction activities.
4. Hot Work Management
- Supervise all hot work activities including welding, cutting, and grinding.
- Issue and monitor Hot Work Permits.
- Ensure fire extinguishers, spark arrestors, and fire watch personnel are available during hot work.
- Monitor compliance with hot work safety procedures.
5. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response and evacuation plans.
- Conduct regular fire drills and emergency mock drills.
- Ensure emergency exits and firefighting systems remain accessible and functional.
- Coordinate emergency response during incidents.
6. Training & Toolbox Talks
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Provide safety induction training to new workers and subcontractors.
- Organize periodic safety awareness and training programs.
- Promote a solid safety culture across project sites.
7. Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare incident investigation reports and submit findings to management.
- Follow up on implementation of corrective actions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5–7 years of experience in construction site safety (Fire Fighting Projects preferred)
- Certification in NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA or equivalent preferred
- Diploma / ITI / Graduation in Civil, Mechanical, Fire & Safety Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, reporting)
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
