ABOUT THE ROLE

A circular knit fabric manufacturing plant in Karnataka is seeking a Quality Manager to own the end-to-end material quality assurance process at plant level. The facility produces synthetic performance fabrics — primarily polyester, nylon, and elastane blends — supplying global sportswear and activewear brands with exacting technical standards. This is a plant-based, hands-on role. The Quality Manager will be the primary quality authority on-site, covering incoming raw material inspection, in-process QC, finished fabric release, shipment documentation, and brand protocol compliance.

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who cannot confirm all of the following will not be considered.

1. 7 or more years of QA/QC experience specifically in circular knit or woven synthetic fabric manufacturing. Garment QC or apparel finishing experience does not qualify.
2. Hands-on experience with synthetic filament fabrics — polyester, nylon, and elastane blends — in a production QA workplace. Candidate must describe specific fabric types and quality issues encountered.
3. Practical knowledge of ASTM and AATCC test methods covering pilling, shrinkage, colorfastness, stretch and recovery, bursting strength, air permeability, bow and skew, moisture wicking, UV protection, and seam strength. Candidate must have personally executed these tests, not merely supervised.

Hands-on experience with the Four Point System fabric inspection methodology including penalty point assignment, roll tolerance calculation, and rejection criteria.
5. Experience working to the quality requirements of at least one global sportswear or activewear brand such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, or Lululemon. Generic export house experience does not qualify.
6. Experience coordinating with Bureau Veritas or another accredited third-party testing laboratory for fabric test submissions and results management.
7. Willingness to be based full-time in Karnataka. No remote or hybrid option.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Incoming Raw Material Inspection Inspect, verify, and maintain traceability records for all incoming yarn, greige fabric, dye chemicals, and functional chemistry against approved specifications. Verify yarn type, filament count, luster, and knitting settings of greige fabric before entering dyeing and finishing.

Fabric Inspection and QA Own 100% fabric inspection on all production dye lots using the Four Point System, maintaining a maximum of 15 penalty points per 100 linear yards. Inspect for visual defects, cuttable width, fabric weight, bow and skew, and shade continuity. Prepare and submit inspection reports to garment factories prior to bulk shipment. Manage and maintain all quality hangers with accurate labelling including GSM, cuttable width, dye lot, yarn type, and fabric construction.

Laboratory Testing and Data Management Execute all required indicator tests per production specifications and enter actual test data into Texbase or equivalent systems within specified timelines. Coordinate with Bureau Veritas or approved third-party labs.



Manage in-house lab certification, equipment calibration, and personnel training records.

Colour and Shade Management Conduct shade variation assessments using visual evaluation and spectral instrument measurement. Maintain bulk shade bands and prepare continuous shade reports for garment factory reference.

Brand Protocol Compliance Ensure full adherence to material quality standards, testing requirements, and documentation protocols of global sportswear and activewear brands. Maintain working knowledge of brand-specific performance claims including anti-odor, UPF, moisture wicking, water repellency, compression, and stretch and recovery. Ensure chemistry compliance from approved lists only.

Shipment Tracking and Lead Time Management Monitor all fabric shipments, manage lab-dip approval cycles, and maintain complete shipment documentation packages. Flag lead-time risks proactively and escalate to production and planning teams to prevent delays to brand calendar milestones.

Problem Resolution and Corrective Action Lead root cause analysis for fabric quality failures. Complete Material Issue Submission Forms and Monthly Quality Reports within required timelines. Quarantine, document, and manage reprocessing or replacement of rejected fabric rolls without delay.

EDUCATION

Degree or Diploma in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, or Textile Processing is the preferred qualification. Candidates from NIFT, DKTE, PSG College of Technology, or equivalent institutions are encouraged to apply.

A Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related science discipline with demonstrated textile QA experience will also be considered. Formal training in ASTM/AATCC test methods, Four Point System inspection, or ISO 9001 quality management is an advantage. For this role, hands-on synthetic filament fabric QA experience takes precedence over academic qualification.
