The programme in Heritage Studies deploys a broad definition of heritage that encompasses cultural and historical heritage, intangible practices and living heritage, natural and ecological heritage, scientific and technological heritage, archives, records and social memory. We are seeking candidates with demonstrable qualified engagement with any aspect of heritage studies thus defined.

The selected candidate is expected to join by October 2026.

Requirements

- We seek candidates with research and organisational experience in heritage conservation, museum studies or related fields to teach and contribute to our Heritage Studies programme.
- The candidate should be able to design and teach courses in Heritage Studies, including field-based courses. They should be able to establish contacts with relevant organisations to enable and coordinate student internships.
- An advanced degree in a relevant humanities/social science discipline with at least two years of experience of working in a heritage-related field or in relevant disciplines with seven years of work experience in a heritage-related field.




- Prior experience either in Conservation or Curation is desirable.
- Candidates with prior research engagement with heritage documentation, archiving, museum theory, conservation and curation will be given preference. Expertise with digital technology, relevant platforms and applications is desirable.
- Academic familiarity with the history of South Asia.
