Position Overview
Job Title: Operations Manager – Background Verification (BGV)
Location: Bangalore
Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Team Size: 4 (Direct Reports)
Experience Required: 8+ Years (Background Verification industry, with team management and P&L; exposure)
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take end-to-end ownership of the Background Verification (BGV) process. The role involves managing a team of 4, coordinating with external verification agencies, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and providing regular operational updates directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the end-to-end Background Verification (BGV) process, from case initiation to closure, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with defined SLAs.
- Liaise and coordinate with external verification agencies for conducting checks (education, employment, address, criminal, reference, etc.), ensuring quality and turnaround time standards are met.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4, allocating work, monitoring performance, and driving productivity and quality targets.
- Build, strengthen, and manage client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for operational matters and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Monitor case progress,
identify bottlenecks/discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure adherence to internal processes, quality standards, and compliance/regulatory requirements throughout the verification lifecycle.
- Track key operational metrics (TAT, accuracy, productivity, agency performance) and prepare MIS/dashboards for review.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO on team performance, client status, agency performance, and overall operational health.
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
- Handle escalations from clients or internal stakeholders and ensure timely resolution.
- Support business growth through operational excellence and contribute inputs for cost optimization and revenue planning (P&L;).
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end BGV process and industry practices.
- Proven experience managing relationships with verification agencies/vendors.
- Demonstrated team management and leadership skills.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with experience in P&L; management and reporting.
- Ability to work directly with senior leadership and provide regular, structured updates.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Office and reporting tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in a Background Verification (BGV) company.
- Prior experience managing a team is mandatory.
- Prior experience handling P&L; responsibility for a process/account.
- Demonstrated experience in client relationship building and management.
- Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline (preferred).
