About the Role

BITS Pilani invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I under an ANRF-sponsored research project titled "Regulation of Seed Oil Biosynthesis by Light Signaling in Brassicaceae."

The selected candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in plant biology and work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Yadukrishnan P. The position also offers the possibility of transitioning into a full time PhD program at BITS Pilani based on performance and mutual interest.

Responsibilities

- Investigate how light signaling pathways regulate seed oil traits in Brassicaceae.
- Conduct research using molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and biochemical approaches.
- Design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data.
- Maintain laboratory records and research documentation.
- Assist in preparing research reports, publications, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the research team to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications Education

- First-class Master's Degree in any branch of Life Sciences OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine from a recognized university or equivalent.
- NET/GATE/GPAT qualification preferred.

Preferred Skills & Experience





- Prior research experience in plant molecular biology.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as Gas Chromatography.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team.

Fellowship/Stipend

- ₹37,000 per month for NET/GATE-qualified candidates.
- ₹30,000 per month for Non-NET/GATE candidates.

Project Duration

- 2 years, with the possibility of continuation as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) after evaluation in the third year.
