Position Title:

Officer – Mechanical (Cement Mill / Grinding Unit Project)

Job Purpose:

To execute and supervise mechanical erection, installation, and commissioning activities related to Cement Mill (Grinding Unit), ensuring timely completion with adherence to safety, quality, and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical Erection & Installation

- Supervise installation of Cement Mill grinding equipment:
- Ball Mill / Vertical Roller Mill (VRM)
- Gearbox, Motors, Couplings, Lubrication systems
- Mill internals (liners, diaphragms)

- Handling erection of supporting systems:

- Bucket elevators, belt conveyors, screw conveyors
- Bag filters, fans, cyclones, hoppers, ducting

- Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and grouting of all equipment.

2. Project Execution & Monitoring

- Execute daily mechanical activities as per project schedule.
- Monitor contractor progress and ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Prepare daily progress reports and update status to seniors.

3. Drawing & Technical Handling

- Study and execute mechanical drawings (GA drawings, layouts, P&ID;).
- Coordinate with design and vendor teams for technical clarifications.
- Ensure installation as per approved drawings and specifications.

4. Coordination

- Coordinate with Civil, Electrical & Instrumentation teams for work fronts.
- Ensure availability of materials, tools, and manpower at site.
- Support inter-departmental activities for smooth project execution.

5. Quality Assurance

- Check alignment, tolerances, torques,



and clearances as per standards.
- Ensure quality of erection work and minimize rework.
- Maintain inspection reports and quality checklists.

6. Safety Compliance

- Ensure adherence to plant safety and statutory norms.
- Monitor contractor safety practices (PPE, permits, work procedures).
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and incident prevention.

7. Commissioning Support

- Assist in trial runs, no-load and load testing of grinding systems.
- Identify and rectify mechanical issues during commissioning phase.
- Support smooth stabilization of Cement Mill operations.

8. Contractor Management

- Supervise contractor workforce and ensure discipline at site.
- Verify work measurements and support bill certification.
- Track contractor performance and compliance.

9. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain daily work logs, progress reports, and checklists.
- Record equipment installation details and deviations.
- Support final documentation for project handover.

Qualification & Experience:

- Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: 2–6 years (preferably in cement / grinding unit projects)

Required Skills:

- Knowledge of cement grinding systems (Ball Mill / VRM)
- Basic understanding of mechanical erection and alignment practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Valuable coordination and execution skills
- Awareness of industrial safety standards
