Role & responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

- Plan, organize, and oversee all machine shop activities related to heavy structure fabrication components.
- Ensure timely machining of fabricated structures, heavy assemblies, base frames, columns, beams, and precision components as per production schedules.
- Allocate manpower, machines, tooling, and resources based on project priorities and fabrication requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of CNC/VMC/HMC machines, radial drilling, boring, milling, lathe, and other heavy machining equipment.
- Monitor daily production output and take corrective actions to achieve dispatch and delivery targets.

Coordination & Execution

- Coordinate closely with fabrication, planning, quality, dispatch, and maintenance teams for smooth workflow and project execution.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, machining allowances, and technical specifications before production release.
- Ensure availability of raw materials, consumables, cutting tools, and fixtures required for uninterrupted production.

Quality Assurance

- Ensure strict adherence to fabrication drawings, tolerances, welding requirements, and customer quality standards.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and machining errors through effective process monitoring and inspection control.
- Ensure proper identification, traceability, and handling of fabricated materials and machined components.

Maintenance & Equipment Management

- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities to minimize machine downtime.
- Monitor machine health, spindle utilization, cutting efficiency, and equipment productivity.
- Recommend machine upgrades, tooling improvements,



and process optimization initiatives.

Process Improvement & Cost Control

- Analyze machining cycle time, productivity, and rejection trends for continuous improvement.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Optimize usage of consumables, inserts, cutting tools, coolant, and power consumption to control operational costs.
- Improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks in machining operations.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, PPE usage, and secure machining practices.
- Promote zero-harm culture and maintain high standards of housekeeping in the machine shop.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and company safety regulations.

Team Management

- Lead and develop supervisors, operators, programmers, and technicians.
- Conduct skill development and technical training programs for machine shop personnel.
- Monitor manpower productivity, discipline, attendance, and shift operations.

Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and machine utilization reports.
- Review KPI performance related to productivity, rejection, downtime, and delivery schedules.
- Present operational updates and improvement plans to management.

Preferred candidate profile

- 1218 years of experience in machine shop operations within heavy structure fabrication, heavy engineering, steel, EPC, or manufacturing industries.
- Experience in handling heavy machining equipment and fabricated structural components is mandatory.
- Strong exposure to CNC machining, boring, milling, and fabrication support operations preferred.
