We are building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world's most hostile environments. We're executing India's flagship autonomous submarine project, the Jalkapi XLAUV, on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time.
We're creating some of the largest autonomous platforms in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and we can build for the world from India.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled Technical Assistant with a strong mechanical background to support our product development and manufacturing operations. In this role, you'll work hands-on with our engineering team to ensure our autonomous underwater vehicles meet the highest performance and reliability standards. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense technology and contribute directly to India's strategic capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in mechanical assembly, fabrication, and maintenance of autonomous marine vessels.
- Should be proficient in using mechanical tools including precision measuring instruments, power tools, and hand tools such as torque wrenches.
- Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and quality control of mechanical systems and components.
- Assist in the procurement of mechanical parts, tools, and materials; manage inventory and vendor coordination.
- Support workshop operations including equipment setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organised work setting, ensuring safety and efficiency in the workshop.
- Travel to on-site locations for assisting with testing and assembly.
Required Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical or related field.
- 2-6 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or workshop environment.
- Strong understanding of basic mechanical principles and assembly techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
- Good problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in marine, aerospace, or defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and documentation.
- Candidates based in Bengaluru are preferred.
